Only the strong will survive. But what does it mean to be strong?

The “Smash” has been building for years—runaway national debt, escalating oil prices—but when order finally breaks down, it happens astonishingly fast. Economic collapse. Government in chaos. Gas shortages. Loss of power. No running water. Martial law. Rioting, looting, and lawlessness…

Security specialist DJ Frost saw the writing on the wall, and he has prepared. He’s planned his bug-out route to escape a city many are now trapped in. With his ATV, night-vision goggles, gear, guns, and enough gas to get him to his retreat home in the country, he ventures out alone under cover of darkness.

For Gabe Horne, the “Smash” is nothing compared to his own moral and spiritual collapse after losing his wife and son. But in this time of crisis, he may not have the luxury of drinking himself to death. There are others at his door, and they will need to help one another to survive.

Each man, in his own way, will face the ultimate challenge of preparedness in this new world order—as both hurtle toward a devastating showdown.…

Absolutely terrible book. The writing style is insulting to your intelligence.

This book was ok. There seem to be a lack of context with the plot. That may have been the purpose though. I've read a few novels in this genre and this one is not my favorite but it was still and interesting read. The end is a little anti-climatic to me. If you are into prepping and stuff like that, there are a few good suggestions in here. However, I would recommend not being like DJ bc you'll end up just like him. haha!

It seems this book was written pre " Lights Out", wide use of child phychology to cheat and lie was the theme of this childish tale. Everything is negative and becomes predictable half way thtough the book. Maybe its the authors fist book that no syndicate would publish and was submitted after Lights Out", thinking the latter was good so way not ride on it's merits. No new insight, just dumb interactions that could have been told in four short chapters.

I liked Lights Out a lot bc this author not only comes up with good post apoc plots but also writes well. Also he doesnt kill you with politics. This one is real good too, glad I found it bc I thought I read all the good PA books available on the Nook, as I have pretty much read all the good published hard copy ones too. Dan
