Overview

Playful pop, R&B, rap, and a vivid panoply of other styles merge on Colour Vision, the third full-length from New York-born singer/songwriter Max Schneider, better known by his all-caps mononym, MAX. Released four years after 2016's Hell's Kitchen Angel, the highly collaborative affair includes a variety of guests from Quinn XCII on the bubbly soul of "Love Me Less" to BTS member Suga on the sweet half-Korean love song "Blueberry Eyes." Rich with detail and hooks, Colour Vision feels more elaborately conceived than previous MAX releases with thematic and tonal arcs, a strong visual element, and a solid mix of interesting production and clever pop songcraft. ~ Timothy Monger
