Most Helpful Customer Reviews
Ted LoCascio's book is targeted for the user who has mastered the basics of Photoshop Elements (PSE) and wants to improve their skills. I found his treatment of layers and masks particularly educational. The reader learns how to 'read' a layers pallette so that they understand how each layer impacts the other. The book is loaded with color pictures that illustrate 'difficult to grasp' material. His treatment of blending modes is a good example. Ted shows a single photo of a flower and demonstates how applying each blending mode changes the flower's appearence. In the corelative text he explains exactly what each blending mode is doing-Example: 'LIGHTEN Whenever the selected layer's color is darker than colors contained underneath, the lighter color is applied.' Who knew? The companion CD is also excellent as it covers the same subject matter so the visual learner can follow along. This book is a must have for any PSE user that wants to get beyond improving individual pictures and wants to master picture composites.
