During Helen Eriksson's last investigation, she made a deal with her reluctant partner—Gia Malone would help her in any way Helen deemed necessary, and when Helen closed her case, she'd help Gia not only find her long-lost brother, but uncover the truth about what happened to Gia's mother. Helen expected what she would find—a mother murdered by a stepfather who would most likely be in prison, if not for that crime, for something else. Certain that her prediction would be fulfilled, Helen delegates the investigation to her brother Crevan Conall, who traces the family's roots back to Boston, and quickly learns that Gia is a very gifted liar, one who rivals Helen's skills at deception. As each lie is exposed, the case becomes less clear, drawing Helen away from Darkwater Bay to lend her skills solving a mystery that culminates in a disturbing conclusion.

The one thing that we can count on from LS Sygnet is the unexpected.  Come Out and Play is an outstanding and emotional book that draws the reader in from the beginning.  I foresee a lasting impact on Helen and cant wait for more books to see it played out.  I was so glad that Craven played a major role in this one; I love his character as much as I do Helen and John.  I don't do "dark" but there is so much hope and support and bits of light in all of her books to counter the dark that I can not resist them.  I have been a fan from Daddy's Little Killer. Note about the sexual content, we do not see sex or love-making, but we do know that it has happened, however there is a sexual element to the mystery.

This 317 page book is the newest addition to the series. It was published March 17, 2015. It is a stand alone book and cost $2.99. The editing was poorly done and the grammer is terrible. There is some minor cursing. This novel has incest, murder, child abuse, several sets of gay couples, and parts of it are written in first person. There is a chapter on Helen, then one on her brother, etc. Helen's twins are now 10 months old. One is walking, climbing and speaking in monosyllables. The other speaks in full sentences, using large words and conveys his wants and needs through vocabulary. He can also translate his brother's twin speak for his parents. This twin just barely toodles around. Yeah right! This is a complicated book with a lot of characters, many have several aliases. First and last names, nicknames, titles, pronouns and descriptives such as the young girl are used, which is very confusing. It is hard to understand who is talking about whom. I have read all the books in this series and this has been my least favorite. It is still a good read, just nothing special. There is murder, gore, and plenty of violence. At least it was not predictable and it has a complete conclusion. This book is very dark and edgy. It is for all adult readers who like an intense mystery. God is mentioned in a rather sneering way and breast feeding and its particulars are discussed, but not focused on, the way it was in the last book. A nice, 3 day read for me, as I kept putting it down, then picking it up again. I did not loose myself in this book. AD

LS Sygnet does not disappoint. Her series continues to develop characters and introduce imaginative story lines. So wonderful to be completely drawn in from the beginning to the end!

Lost sleep time with latest one, couldn't put it down. Ms. Sygnet has such a way with words and story lines that keep us coming back and wanting more of her great characters, bad and good. I loved seeing the softer side of Helen with the twins and more involvement of Craven. If you think you've figured it haven't. I did have to slow down and reread the DNA segments to understand and felt it could have been 'dumbed' down a bit more for us non-professionals. Do wish Ms. Sygnet wrote faster..can't wait for the next one.

Very unexpected. I hate to write anything about the story because I don't want to give anything away . Helen can sense when something is wrong buy it seems to take her a while to get it together. Read the book and be ready for a few surprise. But if you have read this author you know that there are a lot of turns and deadens.

Many murders occur in this story, albeit most as cold cases, and a girl in the penal system isn't who she pretends to be. This story takes place on the east coast with travels to Canada and also delves into familial secrets. Another excellent read by LS Sygnet.

My head is spinning! This is a fabulous addition to this series! Ms. Sygnet has hit this one out of the ballpark! Just when you think you have it, she thows another twist plot in and you are blown away! Warning: this series is not for the faint of heart. It covers with some pretty dark taboo plot lines so keep that in mind. Also, if you have not read the others in the series I would definitely NOT start here. Sygnet also wrote this with alternating POVs, so if that bothers you, keep it in mind. If you are already hooked as hard as I am on this series, you will not be disappointed with this one. I love Helen, flaws and all! To Ms. Sygnet: Thanx so much for another great book! Cannot wait to see what you have in store for us next! -- SPeeD
