About the Author

Sara Richardson grew up chasing adventure in Colorado's rugged mountains. She's climbed to the top of a 14,000 foot peak at midnight, swum through Class IV rapids, completed her wilderness first-aid certification, and spent seven days at a time tromping through the wilderness with a thirty-pound backpack strapped to her shoulders.

Eventually Sara did the responsible thing and got an education in writing and journalism. After a brief stint in the corporate writing world, she stopped ignoring the voices in her head and started writing fiction. Now she uses her experience as a mountain adventure guide to write stories that incorporate adventure with romance. Still indulging her adventurous spirit, Sara lives and plays in Colorado with her saint of a husband and two young sons.

Comeback Cowboy is the second in Sara Richardson’s Rocky Mountain Riders series; in it, she explores the idea that one decision made for all the right reasons has long lasting consequences. When Lucas Cortez agrees to go to jail for a fire his younger brother set, he knew he would lose everything. He just didn’t know how hard it was going to be to get it all back. When he comes back to Topaz Falls and his high school sweetheart Naomi, he learns really how hard it can be. Lucas and Naomi don’t have things easy, but Richardson ties it all together well and the story flows quickly. More on the sweet side, this novel is a much read for rodeo fans, and those who love a second chance. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

Comeback Cowboy is a sweet second chance romance story. I liked that the author didn't always choose the obvious direction with things--we find out pretty quickly who's the father of her ten-year-old daughter instead of dragging out the drama and suspense, for example, and even though it did sometimes look like one of the main characters was going to make a run for it in the other's "best interest" they had adult conversations about what was going on instead and made decisions together. What a novel idea! ;) Though some of the outcomes here almost seemed to come too easily, this is a sweet story with likable characters who really do deserve their HEA, even if the worst trials happened before the book even's not worth getting worked up about it; just go with the easy-reading flow and you'll be glad you did. Although it's the second in the series, this book worked just fine as a standalone. The hero and heroine from book one appear quite a bit--Lance is Lucas's brother, and Jessa is Naomi's good friend--so I've already added book one (Hometown Cowboy ) to my TBR. It looks like the youngest brother, Levi, will have the next book ( Renegade Cowboy ) so I might as well add that one too, while I'm at it :) Rating: 3 1/2 stars / B+ I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Naomi is a single mother and her daughter Gracie is all she has. She lives and works on the Cortez ranch, but it's time for a change. She's finally able to purchase her own property, so she can make her dream of owning a bed and breakfast come true. Things are looking up for her and Gracie, but then she runs into Lucas Cortez, her teenage sweetheart. He is back in town and Naomi knows she's missing something in her life, love. Lucas left Naomi and never returned. They still have feelings for each other, but it isn't easy to forgive him for what he's done to her and trust him again. Will she be able to get over the past, so that they can finally have their second chance? Lucas is back at the family ranch. He left years ago and didn't feel welcome in his hometown any longer, so he stayed away for as long as he could. It's time to help his brothers with their business, but there are still people who would be glad to see him leave. His return should only be temporary, but then he meets Naomi and knows he can't stay away from her. He also easily gets along with her daughter Gracie. Will that be enough to find a way back to the love of his life? Or will the secrets of the past mess things up between them once more? Comeback Cowboy is a wonderful romantic story. It's clear from the beginning that Naomi and Lucas are soul mates, they're destined to be together, but fate has dealt them a cruel hand. There's something about the past Lucas hasn't shared with Naomi and it already made him lose her once. I felt bad for him and kept hoping she'd give him a second chance and that the truth would come out. Lucas and Naomi are both sweet and caring people and I liked them very much. Gracie is adorable and fortunately she's a resilient child. I enjoyed reading Sara Richardson's dialogue a lot, it made the main characters of her story come to life incredibly well. Comeback Cowboy is a story about complex family relationships, secrets and true love. I love stories about those subjects and think Sara Richardson has written a great book. I enjoyed the gorgeous descriptions of her setting, her honest and deep way of describing emotions and the moving way she writes about the willingness of her main characters to sacrifice their own happiness for the people they love. The result is a fantastic complete love story. Comeback Cowboy is captivating, gripping and charming and I absolutely loved this amazing book.

This is the second book in a series but enjoyable as a standalone. Naomi Sullivan is a single mother who never got over her first love, Lucas Cortez. They had a high school romance that was severed when Lucas was incarcerated for arson, supposedly burning a rodeo stadium that devastated their small-town Colorado community. She never learned if the baby she carried was Lucas’ daughter, or that of her husband, Mark, who took off while Gracie was just an infant. So, ten years pass and Naomi’s saved a lot of money working for and living on the Cortez Ranch, but she’s ready to spread her wings and build a Bed and Breakfast business in one of the Victorian houses that line the Main Street. Lucas returned to their town several months ago, and Naomi’s been careful to keep her distance. She still find him attractive and doesn’t want her heart broken again whenever he decides to move one. Thing is, Lucas has been pining for Naomi many a long year. That she’s single is a boon, but he’s not sure he should remain in the town–he’s had a lot of shade thrown his way from residents still bitter over the fire. When Mark comes to town, claiming to want a relationship with Gracie, Naomi drops her paternity bomb, and it blows Lucas away. Could he have sacrificed all those years and missed his daughter growing up? So, there’s a bit of drama here, and I felt the timelines were all a little sketchy. Goodness knows, if I’d loved Lucas as hard as Naomi claimed, I wouldn’t have been intimate with his friend Mark within enough days of Lucas’ arrest to make a possibility of pregnancy by Mark a remote possibility. For me that was baffling and added unnecessary melodrama. That said, all the other parts felt very real, and the connection that Naomi has with her daughter–us against the world–is sweet. Also, both Mark and Lucas are decent guys, for the most part, if you can forgive their horrible choices. Lucas is easier to forgive–his were self-less; Mark was a Grade-A horse pa-toot, but we forgive much based on age and maturity, and he lacked both when he coasted off. Expect a lot of thwarted sexytimes, as Naomi juggles motherhood and romance when she and Lucas finally connect. Also, expect some heartfelt struggles for Naomi, who experiences the very real fear of loss as her daughter begins to build a relationship with her father. I thought that was handled realistically well, and I liked how those plotlines unfolded. I mention “redemption” in my blog title because both Lucas and Mark experience it in their dealings with Naomi, but Lucas’ experience is more global and has more impact on Naomi’s life. I liked the story, and connected with the characters, so I’d recommend it for readers who like a bit of a slow burn and cowboys who not only make good on long-made promises, but who also poke bulls for fun. I received a review copy via NetGalley.

Absolutely love this book! I've really enjoyed all of Sara's books, but this might be her best! Characters and story full of heart and humor as always--Sara never disappoints! This particular book, though, I just can't put down!

I really enjoyed this one. I love a good second chance story. I did tear up a few times because it has it's beautiful moments. Lucas going back to Cortez Ranch takes a lot of guts because of what happened, but once he sees Naomi again it rekindles a fire inside him. Can he take the chance? This story had a great combination because it has the heart and feels, but with a little suspense element. Some parts had me on the edge of my seat. While reading this book you can feel the special bond between Naomi and her daughter. I have that with my mother still at the age of 31. I just loved the epilogue. It was really beautiful.

Single mother Naomi Sullivan has her hands full and then some, between caring for her little girl and working she is burning her candle at both ends. But no matter how busy she may be she is perfectly content with the life she has built for them, but when her ex- boyfriend wanders back into their lives she begins to wander if an extra set of hands to tackle her heavy load might be just what she needs... Lucas Cortez isn't a perfect man by any means, he has a troubled past a mile long that he has paid deeply for, but it's just that it's the past, and now he is ready to turn over a new leaf. He returns home to see his family, full well knowing that there will be some townsfolk not too happy to see him, that's okay though cause he's not planning to stick around long. Or is he?? Nothing warms your heart like witnessing two lost loves find their way back to one another, and after finishing Comeback Cowboy my heart is nice and toasty. From the moment I started this story I knew I had stumbled onto something special, something that was sure to make me laugh, have me smiling a time or two and leave me with a happy heart... and true to my initial instincts it did all of that and then some! Ms. Richardson has created a gem of a story here, one that is sure to charm it's way into the hearts of every reader, and reaffirm their belief in happily ever afters!! Definitely a can't miss read, and wonderful addition to the Rocky Mountain Riders Series!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

3.5 stars I had read and enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was pretty excited to get to this one. I loved Naomi. She's strong and sassy and stands up for herself. Lucas is stubborn and loyal and I really enjoyed seeing them work things out. This is a fun group of characters. Plot wise, it was a little dramatic. There are a few threads going at the same time and with that came a lot of push and pull. Thankfully, there wasn't a break up, but there were several several attempts. Overall, it was a quick read with an adorable ending. I can't wait to see Levi's story. **Huge thanks to Forever for providing the arc free of charge**

“Your words might be quiet.” “But they mean more than most people’s.” Sometimes you just need a sweet second chance romance to get lost in and that’s exactly what Comeback Cowboy is. Told from dual points of view, Comeback Cowboy follows the story of Naomi and Lucas. For Naomi, there has only been one love in her life and that was Lucas. He was her high school sweetheart, her everything. Their love was intense and like non other. All was going well until Lucas made a life altering decision. They say hindsight is twenty-twenty and in Lucas’ case there are lots of things that he regrets. The biggest, keeping Naomi away. Lucas never wanted to return home, but life had other plans for him. Because of his past, Lucas doesn’t plan on staying long, but when Naomi re-enters the picture, all of Lucas’ intentions go away. Life has given him hope and a second chance and he’ll stop at nothing to win back Naomi…. Overall, I found this book to be a quick and enjoyable read. I thought the story was well written and interesting. I am such a sucker for small town second chance romances, so naturally I fell in love with the setting instantly. I think the small town setting adds a lot to the story and is an interesting element for the characters to overcome. Living in a small town isn’t easy and when you have to deal with everyone knowing your business and judging you…well, that just really adds an interesting element to the story. I thought the characters were great and very easy to connect with. I admired Naomi a lot. It’s not easy being on your own, having to do everything. Add in raising a kid by yourself, and well, lets just say, Naomi is plain awesome. She is a devoted mother, hard worker and loves with everything she is. And Lucas…Oh, Lucas. He made a lot of mistakes as a young man and had a lot to make up for. I appreciated how thick his skin was and how he didn’t let the small town prejudices get to him. He worked hard to get where he is in his life and is honestly a good man. I adored Lucas and Naomi together. They had amazing chemistry and I enjoyed their pull. I loved the way their relationship was re-built and grew. I think these two worked really hard to go after the things that they wanted in life and I couldn’t help but root for these two to find their way back to happiness. Comeback Cowboy is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last. This story hit all the marks for me, giving me a sweet and unforgettable second chance romance. I think this story had a wonderful message of hope, forgiveness, not letting others opinions rule your life and not being afraid to take a chance on love. Simply put, this was a wonderful story to spend the day getting lost in.

Naomi Sullivan has learned a few lessons in her life. Never trust a cowboy to stay and never willingly give your heart away. Lessons learned courtesy of Lucas Cortez. All loving him got her was a bunch of heartache and a ton of responsibilities. Her pride and her daughter are all that she needs. When her biggest heartache walks back into her life, can she endure the emotions he resurrects and hold tight to the secret she keeps? Ms. Richardson creates the stories she's best known for. Second chance romances. Comeback Cowboy is teasing, tempting and smothered with an emotion that Sara Richardson excels at. LOVE!
