Coming Home to You (Man from Yesterday, #1) by Barbara Lohr

Cole Campbell is buried in Kate’s past, along with their debate club, football games and prom. Or maybe not. Sometimes a girl can’t shake off her memories. Late at night they whisper to her, like beach waves lapping the shoreline. Persistent. Strong. Seductive.

In this heartwarming beach romance, duty calls Kate Kennedy back to Gull Harbor. She doesn’t plan on seeing Cole again. Doesn’t know he’s now a single father. Ten years shift the balance between the valedictorian and her high school hero. Kate discovers Cole’s daughter Natalie in the stacks of the local library and she’s smitten. Prissy, Cole’s Great Dane, is equally engaging and needy. Always helpful, Cole shows up on Kate’s doorstep way too often. But she can’t give in to the SOS her heart is sending since the handsome contractor is taking her beloved Gull Harbor in an alarming direction. If there’s one thing Kate can’t stand, it’s change.

Kate extends her visit and opens a flower stand. She pairs Natalie up with her recovering mother for summer support and companionship. With summer kisses on their minds and sand between their toes, Kate and Cole discover what might have been ten years ago, but she has lots of distractions. Her sister Mercedes is determined to sell Breezy Point, the family home. Kate’s life feels as choppy as the waves on Lake Michigan as her summer unfolds.

Can a woman and man heal past mistakes in the summer moonlight? Can Kate’s man from yesterday be more than just a memory?

I couldn't give this a 4th star. For a sweet romance I appreciated the sarcasm. I understand the emotions between ex's, and starting over. I did not like the underlying hate and dismissive tone towards the town and the people. It made me tense, which got worse at the end with the introduction of the next book.

This was a wonderful story of second chances not with only love, but friendships and family.

This book is the perfect summer beach read. A terrific storyline about coming home broken only to rediscover the magic of youth and the joy of connecting with the people who know you when you're not sure you still recognize yourself. A bittersweet and achingly poignant romance.

This book was absolutely wonderful to read. It was fast paced and full of love and hope. You will meet an amazing group of friends in this book that you will root for and want to know more about. Every time the book group meets you'll want to know their thoughts and want to know what they are up to in their personal lives. The main characters will warm your heart. Cole, Kate, Cole's daughter, Kate's Mom, Cole's MIL, all have you rooting for them to live happily ever after! Such an amazing book!! I recommend this book to everyone who wants a little love in their life! Can't wait for the next book in the series! I would like to thank the author for giving me a copy of her book for an honest review!

The story and the author's writing are what deserve the five-star review.  The publisher and editor should be ashamed.  They definitely did not earn their salary.  There were so many misspelled words and words which were incorrectly used that I was embarrassed for Ms. Lohr. Please know that I really liked the book and thoroughly enjoyed the  interchange between the great dane  dog and Kate!  The  printing of the book was the only disappointment.  Please consider  using a different publisher/editor because the current on made the product seem cheap.  That was so unfair to Ms. Lohr.

A Feel Good Story Due to a family situation, Kate Kennedy finds herself returning to her home town. Ten years have passed and not much has changed in Gull Harbor, but for Kate, that's just the way she likes it. Kate's coming home isn't a permanent situation, but things don't always work out the way one plans. Such is the case for Kate as she finds herself sucked back into life in Gull Harbor along with her friends and her former high school crush, Cole Campbell. The thing is that for Cole, Gull Harbor as it stands isn't exactly the way he likes it. Cole wants to see things progress forward, but for that to happen, changes have to be made. Kate and Cole do not see eye to eye on the subject, but as they spend more time together, things take on a little bit of a turn. Coming Home To You is a lovely story. I loved how the author developed Kate and Cole's relationship. It was sweet, funny, and just a joy to read. The author also described Gull Harbor so vividly that I could actually visualize what it looked like and what it would feel like to live there. Although Kate and Cole were the main characters, the secondary characters added much to the story. When you combine a sweet, delightful little girl,an unruly, huge dog, friends and a mom that mean well even when they're meddling, you end up with a mixture of romance, humor, and a just plain feel good story that shows just what can go right when you decide to come home. *****I receive this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and viewpoints are objective and are my own.

Nice, sweet beach romance. Lots of fun characters, delightful story. This is the first book in a new series - I hope the others in the series return to Gull Harbor - I would love to read more about these characters.

Barbara Lohr has created a beautifully written and touching story of second chances and coming home to discovery what may have been and could still be. I have not read very many of Ms. Lhor's books yet every one I have read has touched my heart with smile and broke my heart in some way. Coming Home to You does a little bit of both. Kate left home ten years ago and has returned to take care of her mother. She doesn't expect to reconnect with Cole who is now a single father. I loved his daughter she was just precocious enough to be adorable. While reading I did not want the story to end. I was blessed to receive this book from the author for my honest opinion and will say if you are looking for a story that pulls at your heartstrings and make you smile at the same time, take a look at this book.

“I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review”. This is a heart warming romance book that reconnects family, friends, and first loves.  Kate Kennedy comes home to Gull Harbor, after a divorce, when her mother, Alice, has a stroke.  Kate reconnects with old high school friends, as well as her small town community.  She doesn't plan on seeing Cole Campbell again, and she also doesn't know that he is a single father.  She wonders if she can find love again, or has she never really stopped loving Cole.  Along the way Kate rediscovers herself, with the help of her friends, opens a flower shop, and learns what really matters.  What will Kate do when she learns that her beloved hometown is starting to change from historic to new and modern.  When she finds herself on the opposing end of the changes, she has to go up against Cole who is pushing the town forward, she quickly draws up a plan to go into action.  When Kate gets to know Natalie, Coles daughter, and Prissy, the Great Dane, has she finally found what she has been missing?   I fell in love with the characters of Gull Harbor, and the book club ladies.  Its a wonderful read, and its one that is hard to put down once you start reading.  Very refreshing spin on romance novel, and I look forward to falling in love when more books from this series is released.
