As Josie begins the summer before college with the dream of working at a coffee shop to save money and learn the business, she quickly realizes what she learns outside, around the dumpster, will become the foundation for her own coffee shop. Told through a journal of her lessons from a group of misfits society normally turns a blind eye to, Josie learns that common ground is not just a connection, but a philosophy of how to let your inner voice be your guide.

In Common Ground, Josie shows by example that one simply needs to show caring to another to make a difference. No caring act is ever too small and can go a long way for many people. The characters all come together to help each other, even when they don’t have much to give but themselves and their time. The book is entertaining and thought provoking without being preachy. Common Ground is both an easy read and meaningful. I took one star off because I wanted more!
This absolutely a must read! I felt a connection to the characters and loved following the evolution of each one. I truly believe anyone can relate to someone in this book and it definitely gives you a sense of humility/humanity that we all want to see more of. I would also state this will cause a few tears so have some tissues ready lol. I hope there is a second book to follow so i can continue the journey with these characters I have grown to love and care for. Allison Moore
