We upgraded our old compact camera to a newer model (in addition to our DSLR which I've just learned to use).  Turns out you can manually control the aperture and shutter speed with the new camera, which we weren't able to on the old one.  I wanted to learn how to use it to take photos using the settings I preferred.  This book helped a great deal with that, since I'm a novice and didn't really know what ISO speed did or what aperture was.  It's also got plenty of information on how to use existing scene modes, as well as great tips on editing my pictures on the computer.

Super book for learning how to shoot with manual controls on a point-and-shoot like you can with a larger DSLR.  I bought DSLR Fundamentals to learn how to use our old DSLR, which was helpful.  When I saw this book, I gave it to my wife to read to learn how to shoot with out Canon S110.  Really helped in learning how to adjust aperture and shutter speed manually for far better photographs!
