Overview

Compassionate Machinery by Jim Marcus

It was 1984 and nothing really made sense anymore. Ronald Reagan would win every state except one (and the District of Columbia_, a new kind of cancer was spreading among the gay community called “Gay Related Immune Deficiency” Syndrome, No one knew what was coming next musically, and Every single person I saw seemed more beautiful than they really were. This last was probably due to the fact that I was 18 and had just discovered that I was bisexual and polyamorous.

This is a small memoir, beginning on January 1st, and ending on the evening of December 31st in the year 1984. It’s one year to try and figure out how the world worked and if it had anything to offer me that wasn’t completely debased. Just one year that started as a decision to be a professional musician and became more of an education on every kind of sex you can imagine.
