I've been a fanatic about World War Two ever since I was a small child playing in the sandbox with my plastic army men. Now, at 31, I'm even more a nut on the history of that era and still try and learn everything I can about it. When talking to many friends about WW2, I've always been quick to tell them about the Idiot's Guide to WW2 because the book offers all the important facts in the most simplest of terms. A five year old could read it. I find myself referring to it myself on many occasions just to double-check facts or stats or dates. But even more than that, I'm compelled to read about history and what took place. It's truly unfortunate that many younger people haven't a clue as to what WW2 was or why it was fought. Brave men lost their lives in order to preserve piece, the least this generation can do is remember them for it. This book can help them remember. If I was a history teacher, this is the book I would use because it covers such a vast amount of the war. Why did the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor? What happened on the morning of June 6, 1944? Who was General Patton? The answers are in the book. Answers all Americans should know and never forget. I congratulate this book and its author because together they hit the mark! Great job! The book made learning fun. Buy the book and I'll see you on the beach!!!

I was interested in learning the basics of WWII, and this book exceeded that expectation. And this is one of the few books on the war that I've read that offers a good unbiased account. One area of improvement would be more maps and charts about the actual battles.
