This book is a must-have for anyone just starting out writing Christian fiction. You'll learn about content, point of view, theme and message, establishing your own voice, finding time to write, research, how to write a proposal to submit to an editor, or how to pitch an idea to an editor at a writers' conference. But there's also so much here for the established Christian author. Even as the author of 40 published novels, I learned about the 'magic paragraph,' dealing with reviews, critique groups, marketing your book yourself, how the publishing process works, and a most helpful chapter checklist. Altogether, it's almost mind-boggling how much information Ron Benrey has managed to include in these 300-plus pages.

I bought this book for two reasons: first, my friend had dared me to write a cheesy Christian historical fiction book; and second, I thought it was hilarious to find a 'Complete Idiot's Guide' to something Christian. I did end up reading it, and although I didn't find much that was really novel (pun intended) it was also a good concise overview of the writing and marketing process.
