'Confessions of an Ordinary Mystic' offers the opportunity for the reader to experience the author's spiritual encounters in a way that allows them to identify their own spiritual journey in a more meaningful way. The book is well designed with plenty of white space so the reader can jot their own reflections and thoughts. The water colors add a visual dimension that encouages imaginative contemplation. It is an excellent book for individual spiritual direction as well as small groups. There are thought provoking study guide questions at the end. 'Confessions' would be a book the reader could refer back to time and time again. It not only relates the mystical to the present, it is well grounded in history, daily life, and the presence of God in the ordinary. It would also be a good book for people who are discerning their ministry in the world. The chapter on power and mystery is unique and will be helpful to many who wrestle with the effect of internal and external power in their lives.
