Perfect love in a good timing

This is a story that has all the right ingredients but never mixes them together for a good result. The writing is amateurish at best. The smutty language does absolutely nothing to move the story forward and is completely out of cynic with the characterizations. I really kept hoping it would develop into something worth reading because I love Hawaii and the initial plot and character setup. It turned out to be a vehicle for smutty language and had no connection to the islands other than a few scenes that could have happened on any beach anywhere and have in other, but better-written novels. I make it a point to finish reading what I start, but I wish I hadn't with this one. Good thing it was free because I would be screaming for a refund.

Connected by the Sea is book #1 in the Hawaiian Crush series. This is my first E. L. Todd book that I have read. Sydney is attending University of Hawaii on Oahu. She is majoring in Marine Biology. She loves her friends, job and school. Since her ex-boyfriend cheated on her six months ago she hasn’t moved onto anybody new yet. Coen is also attending the University of Hawaii and has a class with Sydney. He comes across as a bad boy that breaks hearts wherever he goes but underneath he is anything but that. Coen is a hot and sexy man who has not found Ms. Right until Sydney. He is a lot smarter than anyone gives him credit for. Coen catches Sydney’s eye she is immediately attracted to him. She refused to let herself feel that way because he is a heartbreaker just like her ex was. But when she is called to her professor’s office because she is asked to tutor someone, she doesn’t realize it is Coen. The chemistry between Coen and Sydney is explosive. While the relationship seemed to progress very fast I like that they did not get into bed together right away.

For as book smart as Sydney is.....she doesnt get it. Way too much back and forth between the sexual tension with Coen and her feelings for Henry...it just seemed to drag on. With her abusive family past it seems as though Coen is almost verbally abusive at times. I hope that is not the case. After all the bouncing back and forth the ending was kinda abrupt with Henry coming to terms with Sydney, etc. The characters are good and there seems to be solid story to tell.

I was hopping this story would be magical been in Hawaii and all but it was very disappointing the author seems like she is barely an young mature novelist with much teenager terms and actions like previous readers it just doesn't fulfill the enjoyment of a romance novel poorly written not happy I wouldn't recommend it not even for free. Sorry

This was a fast weekend read. Sydney is in college in Hawaii and is best friends with Henry. The problem is that Sydney doesn't realize that Henry is in love with her. Everyone can see it but her. Enter Coen. Bad boy. Reputation. And her secret boyfriend. Coen is tired of being kept a secret because it'll hurt Henry. Eventually Sydney must make a decision. Henry or Coen. I enjoyed this book. I'd say this book ends with a cliffhanger (though small), you can tell that their story - her past - isn't over. I'll add book 2 to my TBR list.
