I began the story of small Alice, uprooted from everything familiar and forced to fend for herself in a sometimes unfriendly world, and quickly realized the words came straight from someone's heart and soul. I suspected these were not the words of a novel, but rather, a biography or autobiography that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Connections is the tale of a remarkable child/girl/woman who possesses a determination to spring back from her misfortunes. The author gives us a window seat from which to view her remarkable journey, allowing us to dream her dreams, skip and play with her, weep with her, and even taste her Coca-Cola. A book to warm the heart.
