Chapter One

Connie the Caterpillar
Was different than most
My body's a rainbow
She would happily boast

The others would look
And snicker and sneer
Because Connie the Caterpillar
Was covered in hair

She tried to make friends
With a wave and a grin
But no one could see
Her beauty within

Alone she would sit
While the others would play
Wondering why she wasn't
Green white or gray

For Connie was good
And always did care
About helping her neighbors
When they needed her there

The neighbors were thankful
For a friend that was kind
Her colors and hair
They did not mind

She read them a book
Helped them with chores
Baked them some cookies
And went to the store

One day it did happen
And Connie did change
No longer did she look
Crazy or strange

A colorful butterfly
Emerged from inside
Look at me look at me
Connie did cry

The others looked
At Connie with awe
The crazy colors were
Now beauty they saw
