An Unbelievably Moving Read!! Corinne Michaels is a genius of a storyteller. I knew this book would be very good after having read her Belonging Duet, but very good was not the word to describe Consolation. Consolation was EXCELLENT!! I was absolutely blown away by Consolation!! This is a very powerful and emotionally griping story about two people who find love at the most unexpected time and in the most unexpected of ways, and from people they never thought it would come from. This is a story about healing and learning to love again. The flow of the story was absolutely brilliant and I loved the way she weaved all of the characters that we met in the Belonging Duet into Consolation. So yes, Jackson, Mark and Catherine are back!! The way in which Corinne Michaels wrote the story actually took the reader through the many stages of grief and healing. I laughed. I cried...a lot. I cheered. I had ARE YOU KIDDING ME moments. She was not afraid to let you feel and understand the trial and tribulations that Natalie were going through after losing her husband, Aaron, and trying to attain the all elusive cathartic stage of peace. I loved Natalie Gilcher. She is honestly one of my favorite heroines. She is a strong, beautiful woman who stumbles at times, but always finds a way to pick herself up and push forward for not only herself, but, more importantly, for her little girl, Aarabelle. And can we talk about Liam for a minute or two? My God, Liam is absolutely fantastic!! Not only is he sexy, gorgeous and all alpha male, but he is caring, patient, loving, and has one of the biggest hearts that I have ever come across in a hero. He has so much love in him. I am head over heels in love with Liam Dempsey!! Wow!! He truly is perfection!! Liam and Natalie's story will leave you breathless and wanting more. This couple will forever be sealed in your heart. I honestly cannot say if I love Liam and Natalie more than I love Jackson and Catherine. Oh, who am I kidding, I love both couples equally, because they bring out the best in each other. They each teach the other that it is ok to make mistakes and open up your heart, because in the end the love is what unites them. So, thank you, Corinne Michaels for giving us readers this timeless story that will remain with us for eternity. There is no one that will read this story and not feel the chemistry between Natalie and Liam or the emotional pull that this story brings out in its reader. Bravo, Ms. Michaels!! Bravo!! I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

You know that feeling you get after you finish a GREAT book? The one where you can’t sleep and can’t think straight because all you can think about is that book… Well, this is that book! This book makes you think and put yourself in the characters shoes. Ms. Michaels writing is phenomenal! I devoured this in one day! I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more, and then cried some more. The balance of emotions is perfection. I absolutely freaking LOVE Natalie. She is so strong and determined! Liam is the ultimate BBF. He is simply amazing! His character is just so special. He absolutely stole my heart away. Read this now! You will not regret it!

So I won an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review. Writing - 5 stars Content - 4 stars (struggled with a few details) Overall - 4.5 stars I struggle with this review because there are so many things I want to comment on, but I cannot as I promised I would leave it spoiler free. This IS part of a DUET, so the book is technically unfinished, therefore, my content rating is lower because I have to seriously weigh in the fact that there is more out there for this author to write and I need that information to determine my overall content rating. Perhaps I will adjust when I finish the duet. There are parts of this story that pissed me off. OK... so.... At first, I wondered as to the reasoning behind some of the actions of the author. Of course, I then pondered it too hard (instead of reading - which I tend to do) and figured that she had to have reasons for putting her characters into certain "situations", so then I pondered more (again, instead of reading) and basically had a whole scenario played out in my head. I still wasn't happy with my train of thought, so I plundered through and FINALLY finished the book. Of course, to my surprise, I was right. So that pissed me off, because I figured it out. Why??? Because I was hoping for a different "surprise" or "situation" I wanted to be wrong in this case. I really, really, really wanted to be wrong. Is that the author's fault. Absolutely not. It's mine, because I can't leave well enough alone. Ok...so then, I sat and said to myself, "self...what did you think?" And I came up with my ratings. 5 stars on writing ability. Corinne does a fabulous job at putting her words on paper. It's hard to believe that she is only on book 3 here. 4 stars on content. There were a few timeline...no, content inconsistencies that I noticed because I did a full read of her entire series back to back to back. So details were fresh in my head from Beloved and Beholden. And I struggled with a few of the details that didn't quite match up. And maybe it's not that they didn't match up, but that there wasn't a full explanation given to me and I want one...It's a problem I have when I am reading and it's my own issues, so perhaps it won't bother you. And perhaps, don't read back to back to back. Finish the first series (if you haven't already) then take a break...get new perspective and come on back. It's still a 4.5 overall read!

Shocked. Surprised. At a complete loss of words. That's how I'm feeling right now. Corinne Michaels has done it again. Once again, she has given me a beautiful story, made me fall in love and then ripped it right out from under me.......... Consolation is well written and captivating. I devoured this book. I was completely unable to put it down. From the moment I read the first page, I knew. I knew this book was going to destroy me. The prologue just brought tears to my eyes. It was as if Natalie's grief was my own. It was so palpable. Natalie has just had her entire world as she knows it, turned upside down. Once the shock wears off, she's just trying to move on. Trying to be strong for her daughter. Handling the grief the best that she knows how. What she didn't plan on was Liam. Liam was her saving grace. He wouldn't let her pretend that everything was ok. He just let her be. He was her shoulder to lean on and a friend to her when she needed it the most. Liam changed everything... Consolation took me on the most incredible journey. This book will make you laugh, cry, smile, swoon and fall in love again. It will frustrate you and anger you. You may even be tempted to throw your kindle at times. I know I was. I fell in love with Natalie and Liam's story. So lost in the beauty of their relationship. Consumed with the need to see this story have a happy ending. And then BOOM! Blindsided! I was in no way prepared for what was to come. That ending....I'm gonna warn you, it's brutal. It's a fantastic cliffhanger that will leave you shocked, angry, and surprised. You will be asking questions and wondering did that just really happen? Did I read that correctly? I have so many questions. I can not wait to get my hands on the next book and see how all this plays out. *I was provided an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Every once in a while, there comes a story that rocks you to your soul. One that changes you, even in some small way. For me, this is that book. Natalie (Lee) is forever changed by the death of her husband Aaron. As a former Navy Seal turned security consultant, his mission was supposed to be a quick in and out. When he leaves on his mission, Natalie is very pregnant with their daughter. But one knock on the door changes everything. Lee is an incredibly strong heroine. She's not like so many of the heroines we see these days. Quite honestly, she simply kicks ass!! She doesn't have time for the nervous breakdown she deserves. She's a mom. She has a little girl to provide for and a little girl to love! Liam is Aaron's best friend and Seal team mate. Months after Aaron's death, Liam arrives to help Lee start to put her life together. At first, he's just around. Liam is Lee's unexpected handyman, shoulder to cry on and friend. Liam comes along at a time when Lee is stuck, not exactly moving on, in a sort of purgatory. Liam helps make whats broken whole. He is most defintely your mans man!! You loving, protective, sexy as heck MAN! He is DROOL WORTHY!! Along the way, their relationship changes. Their love grows! They become more!! Aaron may have been what brought these two together, but their love is their own. Just one quick thing to point out that I think is important. This is a two-part story. So, that means that this book will end in a cliff hanger. HOWEVER, we only have to wait until May to see what happens next. This is NOT one of those stories where we have to wait months and months for. I also wanna say, I think Liam is gonna be worth the wait!! You won't be disappointed by giving this book a chance!! Liam and Natalie's story is one of a kind. It breaks your heart and then puts it back together again all in one incredibly written book. You literally get lost in this story. Corinne Michaels really outdid herself. By far, Consolation is one of the best written, emotionally charged books I have read in a long time.

Consolation is a book that will stay with me for a long time. If I could rate it with ten stars I would. I actually struggled with the idea of writing this review. I was/am filled with angst writing a review for Corinne Michaels' latest book. The reason? Corinne's writing, characters, and storyline are so well written and captivating, that I am afraid I can't write a review that will do it justice, yes, the book is that good! The story consumed me as I read it. It entranced me with pages filled with beautifully written words expressing loss, heartbreak, sorrow, betrayal, friendship, love and forgiveness. It also steamed up the screen with loving and hot sex scenes. The author knows how to craft it all with her talent. It became a fiber of my being, part of my blood, broke my heart, filled my heart with love, lifted my spirits and broke my heart again in the end. This journey is a tribute to the author's incredible writing style and ability! I love when I read a book comes and it grabs me with such force that it makes me feel, that the scenes make the story palpable. When the author has written words capable of making me happy, sad and heartbroken. When it makes me cry, laugh, and smile. When I love and hate the characters and feel for them, about them and hope for them. When I feel like I am there with them, that I know them, then I know the author has successfully woven words that have created a magical web that transports me into book lover's heaven. I found myself so thoroughly transported, into the world that is Natalie and Liam, that the line between reality and fiction became blurred through tears, smiles and swooning (yes, Liam is swoon worthy!) I want to review the story, without giving spoilers, since I don't want to ruin anyone else's magical journey through this exceptional book. Natalie, Lee, is a woman who was widowed when she was pregnant with her daughter. Her heart breaks that Aaron will never meet or know his daughter or she him. She misses Aaron and wonders what could have been. She is mad at him for not keeping his promise to make it home safely.  Can she take another chance with her heart? Does she have any love left in her heart and soul for a man or does it all belong to a ghost? She fears what falling for another SEAL could mean and if she could survive him also not making it home. Does she have a choice or does her heart know what her brain won't admit? Liam is her late husband's best friend. Liam is also mourning Aaron's death and wants to be there to help Natalie navigate life without Aaron. They don't plan on caring about each other. They feel their love is forbidden and a betrayal to Aaron's memory. They can't help that the lines between friendship and lovers keep blurring. He knows he can't compete with a ghost and doesn't want to be her Consolation prize. Consolation has all that I mentioned and so much more. It left me with a book hangover and anxiously awaiting Conviction to know how Lee and Liam's story plays out. I am sure it will be amazing due to the writer's extreme talent of crafting, developing, conveying and delivering her characters, setting and storyline so exceptionally well.  This is a must read book! I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Breathtakingly Beautiful Love Story! This is the first book in Corinne Michael's Consolation Duet and the third book in her Salvation Series.  In the first books we met Aaron & Natalie (Lee) Gilcher. Aaron worked for Jackson Cole and was killed  by an IED on a trip to Afghanistan. Natalie was pregnant at the time and had her baby, Arabelle, by the  time they were able to bury his remains, 3 months later. Consolation picks up at this point. Natalie is  struggling with the loss of her husband. He had retired from the SEALS and she had a false sense of  safety from all the fear of loss she felt when he was deployed. Liam was like a brother to Aaron with an  unbreakable bond and also a close friend to Natalie. In the following months Natalie was drowning in  her grief for her husband and mourning the loss of her perfect marriage to a hero. Loneliness consumed  her but she put on a facade for all her friends and family. Her daughter was the only reason she had to get  out of bed in the morning and now was her whole world. No one could get through to her until Liam showed  up on her door. He is now living close by and wants to be there for her in anyway he can. She tries to put up  a front and push him away, but he reads her like a book and calls her out on her bullcrap. Liam just starts  showing up and taking on the many tasks she is unable to do. He slowly becomes an integral part of her life,  allowing her to smile, laugh, and start to live again. Liam has never had a serious girlfriend so he is surprised  by his evolving feelings for Lee and Arabelle. Liam stuggles with these feelings especially sinse she is his  best friends wife and his close friend for many years. Lee also struggles with the realization of her growing  feelings, thinking it is too soon after Aarons death and Liam is still a SEAL so she could easily lose him too.  But Liam stops fighting it and decides to convince her that they are meant to be. He is so patient with her  struggles to make peace with Aaron's death and to finally love him and want a future with him. It is delightful  to see Lee come out of her shell and blossom into the vibrant, fun loving young woman and mother she should  be. This is a beautiful story of love and loss, loyalty and deception, happiness and heartache. Truths are revealed,  and the struggles to heal and grow stronger are hard fought. They are finally coming to that point where they are  dedicated to their future together when they are blindsided by the unthinkable! This is a jaw dropping revelation  and cliffhanger and I just closed my kindle and said " She did it to me again! I was blindsided just like the end of  Beloved!" But Ms. Michaels followed with a brilliant conclusion to Beloved with Beholden and I have every confidence  that she will do the same with the second book, Conviction. I loved Liam and Natalie and this breathtaking love story  and am excited to find out what is in store for them next!

Having read almost all of Corinne's books except this duet for the longest time, I have heard nothing but amazing things about Liam, the male lead. So, I gave it a shot. And oh, my heart. So, Natalie, the female lead, has a husband who is a Navy SEAL and dies. His best friend, Liam, comes around to fulfill his promise that he would take care of Natalie and her daughter with her late husband. Natalie, being heartbroken, kind of goes through the motions for a bit and Liam shakes her out of her funk. He makes her smile. He makes her laugh. He makes her feel. And eventually, he makes her feels things they both feel they shouldn't be feeling. But if there's one thing that's true about Liam, it's that he's loyal, almost to a fault. He feels a need to protect and heal Natalie, but he also has the ghost of his best friend lurking in his mind. And Natalie needs to figure out if what she's feeling for Liam is because he's here, or because she doesn't want him to leave.

So much language that it made it difficult to enjoy the book. I found the plot wasn't interesting enough to put up with the language. Just couldn't finish the book.

This is the first book I've read by Corinne Michaels and it won't be the last! I read the book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. The twists and turns in the story kept me enthralled. I love the characters, Natalie & Liam are a wonderful couple. Liam is a true knight in shining armour. I love that they talk everything over instead of letting pride get in the way. I don't think I've ever cried this much when reading a book. The ending blew me away and I had to purchase the second book to find out how their story will play out.

A Review of Consolatiion by Corinne Michaels Natalie's story - 5+++++ stars If you read Jackson's story, you know that Aaron was one of the other guys on his team of ex-Seals, working for Cole Security. He was married to Natalie (everyone calls her Lee, because that is what Aaron called her) and they were expecting their first child when he was killed on a security mission overseas, after an IED in Afghanistan blew up. We saw bits and pieces of their life in those first books, but this book picks up her story after his death. When Aaron was alive, they had picked out the name Chloe for her, but after his death, Lee wanted something different that would honor Aaron, so she named her Aarabelle instead when she was born. Liam was Aaron's closest friend over the last eight years, having graduated SEAL training together. He flew in from California to be at the memorial service. Over the next six months, Lee slowly moves on with her life, until Liam is moved back to Virginia and is transferred to Aaron's old unit. He starts helping her take care of Aaron's things and being there for her. Since they were already friends, it was easy for them to grow even closer until they were both able to admit that they loved each other. Just when you think that things are going to be okay for them or that his deployment could be the next twist on this roller coaster story, Aaron comes back from the dead and now the pain will have to be dealt with all over again -- but this time, there are more people involved in the pain. Favorite quote: I was built for this life—not every woman can be a military wife, but even fewer can handle being a SEAL wife. You have to love deeper, stand stronger, but know that at any moment bonds can break. **Honest review voluntarily provided for purchased product.**

Every once in awhile a book comes along and takes you on an emotional journey...this is that book! From the first word to the last I couldn't put it down. There were so many emotional ups and downs and deep feelings throughout. Even in the middle of heartache there was humor. The writing was amazing! Her characters come alive and you will fall in love with all of them (even Aaron). Corinne Michaels knows how to tell a story. I am so happy that the second book is waiting on my Nook because it would be terrible to have to wait to find out what happens next. A great book which will touch your heart!
