Conversations at Willow Branch is an animated character approach at making common everyday interests among adult friends a delightful and serious take on parsing the issues confronting them. It offers critique in the context of that friendship, which is fair and not so fair when trying to make the point of standing one's ground.
There is a piquant charm to their friendship; teasing, and testing and agreeing with each other over everything common and controversial. They are obviously diverse by creation, and are as different as night and day in temperament and philosophy. Each would describe oneself as either atheistic or agnostic or spiritually oriented. There is one lone conservative among an every growing progressive coterie of friends, but whose defensiveness is always entertaining, yet having the annulling effect of disarming her own ranting and raging on. Politics and spirituality, the two non-starters for successful conversations to survive are the major headliners for most of the scrimmages they have with each other. Their friendship offers the reader an invitation to be candid about how serious life and relationships really are. They do this as a need to emerge around very controversial issues that affect the world and planet we all inhabit. It takes courage today to be informed and invested in its present and future, and it takes courage to speak up and out when it is easier to become invisible. Friendship has to be worthy of that.
