I have made about 6 recipes from this cookbook.  Overall, I find the instructions frustrating.  Terms like "blind baking" are used but not explained.  Vague descriptions like "shallow baking pan" caused me problems when the bar cookies turned out to be an inch thick.  Instructions to lightly grease a baking pan, then line it with parchment left me confused.  Redundant steps like "flatten slightly" then "indent with your floured thumb" caused me to double check the instructions several times. I doubled recipes that were described as "makes 16"  only to end up with 50+ cookies instead of the 32 I expected.  One recipe was burnt beyond all hope when I checked it at the minimum recommended time.  I have my doubts the recipes were ever kitchen tested. On the upside, I loved all of the photos, it is a well illustrated book.  (This was esp. helpful when they forgot to mention how large those balls of dough should be.)  And there are a lot of unique recipes included.  It is an excellent collection of recipes.   Although this is not a good choice for a beginner, a more advanced baker will appreciate the more challenging techniques and is more likely to have all of the tools on hand (ex: baking beans).

I have found every cookie recipe so far delicious and the directions are easy to follow. Would recommend it to anyone that likes to bake cookies. Great for the classrooms as well if they have bake shops.
