Brilliant book for anyone catering for people with allergies! I was given an e-copy of it by the publishers and NetGalley in exchange for this, an honest review and I wanted a 'proper' copy of this book asap! One member of my family is severely allergic to eggs and nuts - this book has so many brilliant recipes that are either already designed for people like her or suggestions for adapting them so she can eat them, Another member of my family is diabetic and every recipe also indicates the sugar content per portion, again very useful information. I really welcome this brilliant book and intend trying out some of the recipes as soon as I get the ingredients! The information in Chapter one gives tips on alternative ingredients which may be used to replace allergens as well as giving background information about what the differences are between having an allergy and intolerance. The recipes are then organised into seven different sections according to type. Each one of the 150 recipes is clear, well organised and easy to follow, with graphic symbols used to indicate allergens used in them There are lovely, colourful, mouth watering and well presented images of many of the prepared meals, Additionally there are menu suggestions and two differently arranged index - one contains the recipes by allergen and the other is a more normal, general index about the whole book. A very useful book for anyone who may ever need to cater for anyone with allergies - I have purchased myself a copy!

This book can make a big difference in helping you to eat fresh and healthy meals. I had very little knowledge on what it really meant to go dairy free. It was just a novelty for me to cut out dairy simply because I didn't want the acne that went along with it. Reality is, I still consumed dairy in my diet, I just didn't eat the big players like ice cream, cheese and cow milk. Now it was my daughter whom was  being affected and in a way that is much more disruptive to life then a few pimples. So it became important and not just a novelty but a priority. I wish I would have had this book when we first started to cut out dairy. Not only are their delicious meals that my girls will actually eat, but the first part of this book actually explains to you what allergies and food sensitivity is. The book covers the different options you have for ingredients such as milk alternatives, flours, oils, vinegar, sugar, etc and lets you know which will work best for the type of cooking you need to achieve. When one starts to really dive into an allergy it can be overwhelming on what not to use or make sure in not an ingredient in your food. Dairy seems to be a simple one to cut out compared to the rest and I still found that to be tricky. If you are new to having an allergy or caring for someone who does or you are someone who has had to cook around allergies for a while, this book is going to make a difference for you. It will also help you deal with cutting out an allergen ingredient if you happen to live in an area that may not cater to such an allergen. We are lucky the west coast has dairy free options available to us, and many restaurants and stores cater to such an allergy but if we were in the mid-west I know it would not be nearly as easy. This book gives you the knowledge necessary to completely kick any allergen you have in the butt and know that you can still make delicious foods and desserts. It has become my go to book for cooking and not just for dinners. You can cook an entire dinner party meal if you needed to. I absolutely LOVE this book and it has made a big difference for our family. Please note that my review on this book is very much based off the allergen of dairy, but I still think this book is a must have for anyone who has a food allergy. Actually, this cookbook is just a good one to have in the kitchen whether you have an allergy or not.

Given To Me For An Honest Review Cooking Allergy-Free: Simple Inspired Meals for Everyone by Jenna Short is one cookbook that every kitchen should have.  Whether you have allergies or not the recipes inside can be used by anyone.  There are  many recipes to choose from and many of them have illustrations showing that particular recipe.  You will also see suggestions for substitutions for those with food allergies or intolerance.  I gave this book 5  stars because it is truly a fantastic book to have on hand or to give as a gift.  I very highly recommend it  to everyone who has food allergies or not.  The recipes are wonderful.  I look for more by Jenna Short.
