Coral reef is a fasinating fictional adventure. Althought it portrays a beautiful image of a paradise, it creates a thirst quenchable only by reality. The adventure portrays three boys who live in bliss, but the nature of humans is not realistic. Agreeing with William Golding, I agree the the book is enjoyable, yet far from the truth.

Each of the characters brings something entertaining to this oustanding book.Ralph with his unfailing use of cool logic in the face of danger,Peterkin jests whenever possible and has a never ending compassion to his companions, and then there is Jack who is as brave as he is hot tempered. This is a story of which will stay in a readers mind long after they finish it!

I had to read this book as a summer assignment. I have to admite that I don't like reading, but unlike the other books I read, this one I found quite interesting. The story is adout these three kids stranded on an island fighting to survive. The story is packed with excitment from beginning to end, and I'm very glad I chose this book.

The Coral Island is one of my favorite books (and Ballantyne is one of my favorite authors). It's exciting, funny, and a bit suspenseful at times. I don't think I'll summarize it because others have already done so. If you like adventure stories, you'll love this book. -LemonLoaf

All hope is lost when three friends-- Ralph, Jack, and Peterkin-- are the only survivors of a horrendous shipwreck. The three are most depressed when they come to the conclusion that they have landed on an uncharted island and that no ships ever pass this island. After they accept they are stranded, they are glad to be on such a beautiful island. They rely on Mother Nature to supply them with food. During their three years on this blissful island, not one boy gets sick. R.M. Ballantyne creates life on an island so paradisiacal that the reader won't want to put the book down. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read Treasure Island and enjoyed it. Ages ten or over is the ideal age for potential readers.

This is one of the best books i ever read. With only an axe, telescope, oar, and broken penife, 18 year old jack,15 year old Ralph and 13 year old Peterkin face an uninhabited island- at least until the canibals come. They leave, and pirates come- and capture Ralph. For months Ralph is forced to serve the pirate captain. But then he captures the ship and sails back to the coral Island. The three boys then sail around the south pacific until they are captured by cannibals and sentenced to death for trying to help an prisoner escape . But a missionary comes and...
