Overview

Coraline [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]

Composed by Frenchman Bruno Coulais, the soundtrack to Coraline is a unique and atmospheric accompaniment to the Oscar-nominated stop-motion animation based on Neil Gaiman's novel. Featuring 32 pieces of classical music and brief vocal contributions from actress Teri Hatcher ("Dreaming," "Mechanical Lullaby"), it also includes the Children's Choir of Nice, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, and musicians Hélène Breschand and Christophe Grindel, alongside a new 28-second track by U.S. alternative rock duo They Might Be Giants ("Other Father Song").

I loved the movie and having the music that was in the movie is great. The "Other Father Song" is cute and that song alone is worth the purchase...

When my friend, sister, and I saw this movie in February, after digesting the 3-D and pure amazing-ness of the film, one thing that stuck with all us was the music. We were all totally impressed by this composer that none of us had heard of. So, after hunting down the soundtrack and having many good listens, I can wholeheartedly say that this soundtrack is one of my most favourite soundtracks ever. My personal favourites are "End Credits," "Exploration," "Wybie," "Mice Circus," and "Mechanical Lullaby." The music can go from chirpy in "Installation," to almost folksy: "The Party", to downright scary --- I can still not listen to "You Know I Love You"! --- in a purely awe-inspiring CD. Unlike anything I've ever heard before, and totally perfect. Similar to Danny Elfman's signature music, but (I almost hate to say it) possibly better, and wonderfully imaginative.

When I first listened to the songs on this soundtrack I was struck by its unique sound, provided by unusual instruments, and its quirky appeal. I am a huge fan of soundtracks and cannot live without them, so when a soundtrack sounds quirky, I am in heaven!!! My favorite songs are End Credits, Fantastic Garden, Mice Circus, and Ghost Children. I give this soundtrack an A plus, and would recommend this cd to any soundtrack lover!!!
