The story of Coronado's murderous attempt to strip North America's Indians of their alleged gold is hardly material for a children's book. Instead of history, Ms. Doak has written a feel good fairy tale that leaves out any pertinent information and does nothing to explain the course of events in North America. The one attack she does describe, she makes excuses for: 'They needed food so the starving Spaniards attacked the village'. That sets a fine example of personal responsibility for our children, doesn't it? Set off unprepared to steal someone else's land and treasure, when you run short due to your own incompetence, kill others and take what they have. This woman is a menace. I wouldn't buy any of her books for my kid.
