I have read Corrigan's Pool several times and everytime I read it I do not want to put it down. It is not only interesting to read about the the era of the book, it's also educational in many ways. I recommend this book to anyone, no matter what your reading interests are. This book should be a made for t.v. 3 day series. It could also be made a good movie. It's much like Gone with the Wind but, in my opinion, even better.

An absolute must read! I am pleased to have found this author. Corrigan's Pool will transport the reader to 1800s Georgia as the Civil War is viewed through non-military eyes.

Reviewed by Trudi LoPreto for Readers' Favorite Corrigans’ Pool is an historical fiction drama that will transport you back to the 1860s of southern plantation days. The Civil War is about to begin and life will soon change for Ella Corrigan and her family. Ella meets and falls in love with Gentry Garland. Gentry is far from his Texas home and hoping to find some good horses to add to his herd. Victor Faircloth is the owner of a nearby plantation and hopes to win the hand of Ella, even though he knows she has no interest in him and tries to avoid him at all costs. Events follow that change the lives of many, but mostly Ella's. She soon finds it necessary to marry Victor and give up the life she has always dreamed of. Victor is a mean man, who shows his cruelty to all; his new wife, his slaves and anyone who gets in his way. Gentry has left and gone back to Texas. Ella soon gives birth to a son that is the only light in her life. We are drawn into the events, adventures and actions that mold each of these characters and we cry, laugh and hope right along with them for the answers. Corrigans’ Pool by Dot Ryan will remind you of Scarlet O’Hara and her precious Tara and if you enjoy this kind of history then you must read this book. I was hooked on the first page and never disappointed. I so wanted it all to work out for Ella and see justice against Victor. The supporting cast was equally as entertaining and they too had me totally involved in the story. Corrigans’ Pool is definitely a winner and Dot Ryan is a master writer on matters of the “Old South.”

Corrigans' Pool is one of the best written books that I have had the pleasure of reading. I was so thoroughly pleased with the enchanting, and at times suspenseful novel, I could rarely persuade myself to put it down. I will most definitely be purchasing copies for friends and family, as this novel must be shared and experienced. Thank you, Ms. Ryan, for this beautiful piece, that is Corrigans' Pool.

Loved the book...If you are looking for a love story with depth and substance you are in the "strong woman" characters -- I like being able to read a book I can leave around that I will be proud to say "yes, I am reading that book" ... but still love a love story with depth that came through in time...... I am so ready for book two, Miss Dot.

Corrigans Pool is a great piece of civil war historical fiction with great character development and the potential to be a mini series on TV. Romance, war, slavery...all intertwined and truly educational as well as simply enjoyable reading. It is easy to read and great for discussion. I have ordered it for my book club as well.

My wife has this book and wanted me to read it. By the end of Part One you will know that this is not totally a romance novel. I started Parts Two and Three with a burst of enthusasm that lasted all the way to the end. It's a great read. I won't forget many of the characters.

Corrigans' Pool is one of the best books I have ever started reading. Kinda makes me mad when I have to stop and do my work. A movie should be made from this book. A relative recommended I buy it, and I ordered it from Barnes and Noble in Pasadena (Tx). Glad I did! Melanie B.
