'Counting on Friends' is the perfect way for a preschooler to learn to count. They won't even realize they are learning! The book is written in a gentle manner with wonderful illustrations. It is a terrific book for a young child and an EXCELLENT gift for a new parent. What a great way to start a child's library!

As a retired reading teacher and great- grandmother, I understand and appreciate the value of this book to young learners. I have gotten enormous pleasure watching the faces of children light up as they listen to the story of Frog and his friends. The full-page color illustrations are absolutely enchanting. A wonderful book for beginning readers!

Our family really enjoys this book. It captures my son's attention as he 'adds' and 'subtracts' without even knowing he is doing so! He enjoys finding the hidden treasures embedded in each drawing. I came into his preschool classroom to find all the children sitting in circle time, listening to their teacher read the book, then calling out trying to beat their neighbors in anticipating the next numbers.

This is one of my all time favorites for reading aloud. The beautifully written poetry, story and illustrations engage not only the children I have read this book to, but I also never tire of reading it. Additionally, I have seen that older children enjoy reading this to younger children, teachers treasure reading it to their young students, parents have fun reading it to their children, and grandparents especially delight in reading it to their grandchildren. I consider this a must have for any child's book collection!
