Five year old, Ian Granger longed for a friend, a friend he could play with and confide in. He didn't even care if it was a girl. The day the moving van pulled up to the house across the street was one of the happiest days of his life. That is until he met his new next door neighbor.

Asa Addams left her friends behind when her parents moved from Detroit to Denver. It wasn't her idea, but she didn't have much of a say in the matter. She didn't want new friends. She missed her old ones. But the persistent boy from across the street wore her down until she couldn't help liking him. Who would have known their strange meeting on the top of her roof would be the beginning of a love that would survive all odds? Certainly not them.

About the Author

L. D. K. Johnson is an island girl, brought up in one of the most beautiful locations in the her opinion. She currently spends late nights honing her writing skills huddled in the dark with her tablet, while the melodic sounds of her husband's snores cheers her on. Her favorite past times are attending sidewalk art festivals, watching movies, eating chocolate, reading erotic romances and writing about book ideas that come to her mind at 2:00 a.m. Although she loves to create characters she hopes others will enjoy, her first loves will always be her husband, Philip, their daughters, Laura and Alissa, and their adorable Chihuahua, Rosey (aka...Beast). Unknown to many of her friends and family, she has been writing short stories since the age of 11 and has finally...finally...worked up the courage to introduce them to the world. Enjoy!

The title of this book grabbed me from the start. A poignant love story, that begins with a childhood friendship between the characters Ian and Asa. I cried and laughed right along with the characters. Ms. Johnson takes you on a journey of friendship, and the trials and hurts of first love. So heartwarming is this story. The end I didn’t see coming and made me cry. Ms. Johnson has a way with words and the ability to draw you in the story. I look forward to reading more of her work.
