I liked this story, but it could have used about 2 more chapters. One in the middle to give it a little more substance and one at the end - to give a glimpse into the future.

Grace has been accused of murder, and is called the Black Widow by the town because she has had three husbands die. Brock gave up practicing criminal law and now focuses on contract law, but Jesse, Grace's son, is determined to have Brock represent his mom. After meeting Grace, Brock knows he has to try and help her. I really enjoyed this novella! What an interesting look into what passed as the justice system in the frontier. I loved how the trial ended! The characters were well-developed, the story was unique, and the romance was sweet. Brock and Grace are such good people. Jesse was my favorite, though! I loved his determination to help his mom, through the whole process.

Grace is accused of killing her third husband. In the new state Colorado, there is not much law and order to be had, especially when the whole town is sure they have the culprit. But there is a new lawyer in town, one who lost a criminal case and had vowed never to argue another. Yet Grace's twelve-year-old son Jesse refuses to let his mother die, and lawyer Daniels is her only hope.
