Many books claim to offer the secrets of a good marriage, but this book offers the absolute truth. Satan is ever striving to blur and contort the truth; modern society is experiencing a shifting toward a culture of divorce. In a way that no other book has, this book provides an eternal perspective about marriage. Noting that marriage can be the most sanctifying - yet the most demanding -- experience of our lives, Elder Hafen observes that marriage is "the home room of the earth school our Father created to give his children a place to learn and grow. Families are the laboratories where we test and develop our religion." See through the confusion in our society and create an environment in which human love overcomes all opposition and lasts forever.

“Covenant Hearts” by Bruce C. Hafen is a book all about marriage and the importance of families. Hafen looks at marriage from a Latter Day Saint point of view, and explains what Latter Day Saint’s believe. He also explains the world’s point of view in contrast, which really shows how different the two views are. He proves that the concept of marriage has changed dramatically throughout the years from a solid commitment to the community, to a private affair that can be broken at any time. Hafen explains how the optimal situation for children is to be raised within the bonds of matrimony where two parents are true to their covenants they make with the Lord. When the Lord is involved in a marriage, the family is always happier and more successful. Happiness is best founded upon teachings of Christ, which involve communication, love, and commitment. I personally really enjoyed this book. I feel like it was very insightful and helped me see the true value of marriage. I realized what I want in my future family, and what I’m going to do now to prepare. I have realized that marriage should be a very serious commitment. Marriage is hard work, however the greatest blessings and joy come from serving and being loyal to a companion. This book’s biggest strength would definitely be the personal stories and experiences of people that really put into perspective how important marriage is. Personal experiences help the reader relate more to what the author is saying, and makes it more meaningful. I know those stories hit me more than anything else. I didn’t see any faults or weaknesses. Overall I really enjoyed “Covenant Hearts” and I would suggest it to anyone.
