The newest Gold Country Cowboy series by Dana Mentink had my heart beating fast throughout the entire story! Between rival biker gangs and the potential threat of an all out turf war between them, it was constant knife edge tension. She seriously had me under my blankets, sucking my thumb & calling out for my! Wickedly scary stuff, but it's this kind of suspense that keeps me coming back for more. I've enjoyed each installment in this series and getting to know the Thorn family more. Evie Thorn especially, she'll engulf you in her love and feed you until you burst. It's her way of diffusing a tense situation and looking out for those she cares for...she's a mama bear you don't want to mess with! I had no idea how Jack, Shannon, and little Annabell were going to outrun Cruiser and his biker gang. It seems they were cut off at every corner and Shannon's life was threatened at every turn. There was no place to hide and I wondered who was the crooked crook who ratted on their whereabouts! And talking about hiding, what are they going to do about their marriage on paper only? I guess, you dear reader, will find out how all these things play out in the pages of this keep-you-up-all-night story! If you love suspense with a sprinkling of faith and a well deserved happily-ever-after, you'll be in for a treat with this one. Dana Mentink is a must-read author for me! I can't wait for younger brother Keegan's story next, he's been a bit of a mystery throughout the series.

4.5 stars To be honest, this book had me at the title. I mean, hello? Cowboy + Bodyguard?? Yes please! And then when I realized it was Jack’s story? Yep. That sealed the deal. I’m really loving this Gold Country Cowboy series by Dana Mentink – and not just for the cowboys! She’s created a family of compelling characters that feel like friends, so you’re even more invested in the story’s outcome than you would be already. The Thorn brothers and their parents are the kind of cowboys you definitely want on your side, with even the momma being a sharp shooter who steps up to the rifle when a need requires it. Humor rounds them out, as do their tender hearts and sacrificial love. And let me tell you … you will be holding your breath from the start of this book until the very last. Mentink crafts edge-of-your-seat, heart-in-your-throat suspense with danger around every corner. Even when you think it’s safe to relax a bit… don’t! She keeps the stakes and the tensions high from beginning to end, and a tangled web gets even more tangled as the story progresses. All this run-for-your-life tension of course leads to great romantical tension as well, and Jack & Shannon’s story is sweet and swoony. I wasn’t quite sure of their motivation for keeping their estranged marriage a secret (both the marriage itself and the estrangement) but I enjoyed watching them work through their still-present feelings for each other when the emergency Shannon has found herself in forces them to reunite and take care of a baby too! Jack in daddy-mode is enough to warn you to keep a fan handy at all times – his tendency to press a kiss to the baby’s head is just plain swoonilicious! Shannon’s faith journey goes hand in hand with her struggle to deal with her feelings for Jack and her dream of being a doctor too, and I thought Mentink presented these emotions authentically and gently. Bottom Line: Hang on to your cowboy hats and saddle up! You gallop immediately into heart-stopping action in a race against time (and rival biker gangs) to save a little baby and her frightened young mom. Well-plotted suspense keeps you frantically turning pages to see what will happen next, and forget sleeping until you know how it turns out! A swoony romance and a sweet story add to the suspense – and the great characters – to give you a story you won’t want to put down! (I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)

This is a very good romance with a lot of suspense. This has a lot of twists and turns. Shannon and Jack learn to fall back in love through a lot of troubles. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I enjoyed getting to revisit the Thorn family again and this time we get Jack’s and his estranged wife, Shannon’s, story. This pretty much heats up right from the beginning pages and doesn’t stop until the final ones. Shannon, an emergency room doctor, is out of her depth when one night she stands up to a motorcycle gang when one of its brothers is seriously injured. They are planning on taking their blame out on the member’s girlfriend who also is the mother of the member’s small child. Shannon sees the situation and acts quickly before really thinking about the outcome. With nowhere else or no one else to turn to, Shannon contacts her estranged husband Jack. Jack who is so in love with her, steps in with no questions asked. This is a pretty suspenseful and action filled read. The gang barely gives Jack and Shannon or the rest of the Thorns a rest. The whole town is in danger of erupting into a turf war between two feuding gangs, and the mother of the baby, well she hasn’t told Shannon everything. I liked seeing the other brothers and getting a brief glimpse into their lives. However, their lives are affected in a big way as brothers are torn against each other as the secrets that become like bombshells on all of their lives are revealed and not to mention the past’s demons that haunt Shannon to this day. I did like the family bond the Thorn’s had. It was strong and memorable. I hope there is more to their stories. I received a complimentary copy of this novel. I was not required to post a review and all views and opinions are my own.

Cowboy Bodyguard Another exciting book in the series by Dana. Very interesting from start to finish. Shannon got herself involved in a dangerous situation trying to help out an very young mother. She ends up taking care of a young baby, even though she is a doctor it wasn’t easy at times. Jack is her estrange husband and after being apart seven years she enlisted his help. I felt like was watching a movie, very exciting action packed, and suspenseful. I could really see this book being a movie. Also deals with the issues of gangs which in everyday life you forget they still exist. I received an complementary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive review. This opinion is my own.

Dana Mentink’s third book in her Gold Country Cowboys series, Cowboy Bodyguard, is another winner. This time Jack Thorn and the rest of the Thorn family are embroiled in protecting Jack’s estranged wife, Shannon, and an infant she is caring for from being kidnapped by members of two rival motorcycle gangs—the Tide and the Aces. The town of Gold Bar becomes the battleground for the war between the Thorns, the Tide, and the Aces. Jack and Shannon battle their personal war at the same time. Cowboy Bodyguard draws the reader deeper into the Gold Country Cowboy series, allowing us to become more enamored with the strong cowboys that make up the Thorn family. The fourth book in the series will be published soon, and I can’t wait to read it. But, at the same time, it will be sad because the series will come to an end. The members of the Thorn family have become like friends. Do yourself a favor and read Cowboy Christmas Guardian and Treacherous Trails, if you haven’t already, so you can get the whole picture of the Thorn family. I received a copy of Cowboy Guardian for review purposes in exchange for my honest review, which I have done.

The end took forever to reach with entirely too many action climaxes. There is suppose to be a decline in pace following the highlight action. However, this author decided the storyline needed half a dozen action climaxes. It would have been better if the romance between the two protagonists been developed more in the storyline.

"Cowboy Bodyguard" was a great book. The author grabs the reader's attention from the start and holds it to the very end. The suspense was great! I would highly recommend this book. I received a copy from Mentink. The review is in my honest opinion.

Cowboy Bodyguard is the third book in the Gold Country Cowboys series. Shannon Livingston is serving her internship at Mercy Hospital in Los Angeles. She befriends a young mother, who is being threatened by a biker gang. But, to be able to protect them she’ll need help so she calls on the only man that she trusts. The man she married in secret seven years ago, Jack Thorn. Together they will protect the baby while the mom looks for her brother. Protecting the baby is one thing but will Jack be able to protect his heart from being broken all over again? The story has lots of action. But the best part was how Ms. Mentink wove the spiritual content into the story without being over bearing. It took awhile for Shannon to understand God’s love, but she eventually got there. I loved how the family all rallied around and was willing to do whatever they had to, to protect one of their own. Another great story from Dana Mentink. I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

An interesting book with twists and turns. I never can resist a western romance!!! I got so frustrated that real communication between the main characters was lacking. Jack assumes Shannon means this. Shannon assumes Jack means this. Shannon...Jack sit down and iron out the problem!!! Not always easy in real life let alone in a book. I was hoping by the end of the book the issues were addressed and open communication occurred. Shannon was warm, hardworking and went beyond the call of duty. Jack was protective, loving and just the man to have on your side. The two together were a match made in...? A page turner. A book that keeps you guessing. I loved it. I received this free to review.

Ms. Mentink promised us a bumpy ride in COWBOY BODYGUARD and that is what is delivered. Imagine working as an Emergency Room nurse when a biker is brought in... and he isn't one of the many good bikers... No. He's part of the 1%, part of a very dangerous gang that'd rather kill you than look at you. Not only that, but injured biker's girlfriend is accused of pushing him down the stairs, causing this accident -- and the biker's want to retaliate by kidnapping her newborn baby and killing her. She is only a teenager and a bit panicked and doesn't know where to hide from all these scary tattooed bully bikers. Of course, Shannon is intimidated by them too, though she tries not to show it, and goes running to her estranged husband Jack for protection--who better than a cowboy, right? But even miles away she is still in danger and those bikers are on her tail... and I am so glad I am not a heroine in one of these romantic suspense books. (shudder). I would never survive the first attack and of course there are more than one, two, three... there's usually a dozen or more. Plus the black moment when all is lost.... Again, with this suspense we know who, we know why. But we don't know when, where or how, so there are plenty of reasons to keep reading. Don't miss COWBOY BODYGUARD. Fans will want to read Cowboy Christmas Guardian and Treacherous Trails first to get stories from other secondary characters in this book. I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

Cowboy Bodyguard is the third book in the Gold Country Cowboys series. I have been looking forward to this story because it centers around Jack Thorn, the brother I have been interested in getting to know better. Ms. Mentink has outdone herself this time in the action category. When you have two rival gangs and throw some cowboys in the mix, you are destined for a roller coaster ride of a story. When you add in a secret marriage, a mother on the run, a baby that needs protection, being in suspense of who the mole is that is providing information, you have the formula for a fantastic novel. Oh and in true Dana Mentink style, you have to have the right amount of romance to go with the action and suspense. Although this can definitely be read as a standalone, I would highly recommend treating yourself by reading the others in the series first because readers will get updates on the Thorn brother featured in each of the first two books. I am looking forward to Keegan's story this fall in Lost Christmas Memories. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Cowboys, gangs, a doctor, a fearful mother, and a baby are just the mere beginnings of this story. This is a page-turning suspense you don't want to miss! Caught up in a life she never expected to be in, Dina, has found herself in an abusive relationship with a gang member and can't seem to get out, and to make matters worse, she had a baby with with him. Fearing for her life, she ends up finding help in a doctor, Shannon, to help protect her baby, as she tries to locate her estranged brother, whom she is hoping will help her. Only word gets out that Dina is on the run and that Shannon has helped her and has her baby. The gangs, the Aces and the Tides are out for blood and they will stop at nothing. Forced to lean on her estranged husband, Jack, Shannon asks him for help to protect the baby and Dina, only they haven't seen each other since they were married 7 years ago. Jack, always the loyal cowboy, agrees to help, never imagining what will lie ahead for the 4 of them, but knowing he will do anything to protect his wife. Will they be able to escape the gangs that both want them all dead? The author had me turning page after page as the twist and turns never stopped until the very end. I gave this book 5 stars and look forward to reading the next book in the Gold Country Cowboy's series.

Settle in for a suspenseful, page-tuner, new release from Dana Mentink! Cowboy Bodyguard, the third book in the Gold Country Cowboys series, will have you on the edge of your seat! Emergency room doctor, Shannon Livingston, needs help. She promised to protect a baby that a biker gang is after. She turns to Jack Thorn for help. Is he able to help Shannon and the baby before it's too late? What will happen when his family finds out that Shannon is actually his wife? They have been secretly married for seven years-a mistake it seems that has not been dissolved yet. Dana Mentink is an amazing author and I have really enjoyed reading the Gold Country Cowboys series. I think each book in the series keeps getting better and better! Once you start reading this book, you will feel like you are right there with the Thorn family on their ranch. A must-read! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from the author and have given my honest opinion.

Wow! What a great book! The further I got,the faster I read. "Just one more chapter" turned into another and another chapter. I found myself resenting any interruptions (like sleep, work, chores). Cowboy Bodyguard was that good! The novel is the third in the Gold Country Cowboy Series and tells the story of Jack Thorn, who is pulled into danger by his secret wife. He and Shannon Livingston had married years ago, but her medical career was more important than life as a cowboy's wife. When Shannon finds herself trying to protect a young woman, Dina, and her baby from a motorcycle gang, she turns to Jack for help. Now she is in the town she ran from with the man she has tried to forget. Somehow Jack and Shannon must keep Dana and her baby safe and resolve their past. They must decide if they will say goodbye forever or if they can salvage any kind of relationship. Dana Mentink's wonderful combination of suspense, romance, and faith will have you laughing and crying with the characters. Find a comfortable chair, settle back, and enjoy! Susan Simpson

Biker gangs and a family of cowboys come up against each other over a young woman and her baby, one attempting to protect the child and her mother, and the other out to hurt them. Relationships are strained and danger mounts as Shannon Livingston inserts herself back into Jack Thorn's life. Willing to risk his own life to protect her and those she has brought into his life, Jack uses every power he has to keep his family and friends safe. There is endless action with suspense around every curve. This author knows how to keep her readers' attention! Don't miss this, the third book in the Gold Country Cowboys series! Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book free of charge. All expressed opinions in this review are my own.

Cowboy Bodyguard ( Gold Country Cowboys #3 ) By: Dana Mentink Cowboy Bodyguard Is book three in Gold Country Cowboys Series. The author had me hooked from the start. Cowboy Bodyguard might just be Ms. Mentink’s best yet. Cowboy stories are one of my favorite, I love them. You take cowboys and biker gangs and you are on the edge of your seat trying to read faster to see what is going to happen next. Cowboy Jack and Shannon, who he married in secret seven years ago are trying to save a mother and her baby. There is action, danger, and a love from the past. Shannon and Jack’s story is great. Will they be able to put the past behind them to help save a baby and mother? I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Looking for almost non-stop action and danger in a romantic suspense story? Cowboy Bodyguard would be an excellent choice for your next read! These characters are continually in harm’s way throughout the entire book! Cowboy Bodyguard is part of a series. However, it can be read as a stand alone novel even though characters from the first two books do appear in this story. I really enjoyed getting to catch up with the main characters from book one to see what was going on in their lives. I thought Jack was a great character. He exemplified a selfless type of love toward Shannon, who walked away from him before their marriage even began. I loved the way he worked to protect her, tried to share about God with her, and was always trying to think of what was best for her. Shannon was a character who frustrated me through much of the book. I liked the chemistry and attraction between these two characters, yet Shannon was so stubborn and had such a skewed view of reality. I did love the truly life changing growth she exhibited by the end of the story. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This book was a real page-turner with a lot of action and suspense. I really liked Jack and Shannon and thought it was great that they had to pretend that their paper marriage was real. One thing I liked was that Jack showed Shannon that she didn’t continually have to prove herself, that she was worthy of love the way she was. I liked the way things turned out with Dina, also. This was a great book and I would recommend it. I received a copy of this book from the author and was not obligated to write a positive review.
