I am not a "westerns" type of girl, but there's something about BJ Daniels books that grip me from page one! Easy to read, easy to understand, and easy to love the characters. I also love the fact that if you've read one book from a series, its like coming home when you pick up another one from the series. You know and are comfortable with the characters. This story had me rooting for Maggie and Sheriff Flint like I've known them forever. There was a twist that I didn't see coming but the outcome was great. I also loved getting to know the secondary characters and I'm sure their stories will be out in a separate book soon. I'm not a "westerns" type of girl, but BJ Daniels has become one of my favorite authors.

This is a series and author that I've read forever. I love that a lot of her series are offshoots of other series and takes place in one of my favorite areas, Montana. She manages to keep me engaged with both the suspense and romance. I especially like that the suspense is not overwhelmed by the romance. There's just the right amount of romance, this time it was done more in flashbacks not intense romance per se. One of my favorite aspects of Daniels books is that she generally can windup her series in about two years. To me that means I can collect the series and then binge read a 6 book or so series in a long weekend.

I won a copy of this book from the author, I was not required to give a favorable review. This is the 3rd book in the series and this one has to do with Sheriff Flint Cahill, mister follow all the rules. But this time, his girlfriend needs him, his ex-wife is causing problems again and past for 2 women from his town are coming into the investigation. He never looses his temper but when his ex-wife may be involved in his girlfriend's disappearance he losses it. But there is so much going on with kidnapping of her, finding information about a woman who walked away months earlier, his sister & sister-in-law in the middle of their pregnancies and now a ransom and him being put on leave with pay. But Harp is still sorta being a dumb deputy with his own personal problems.

I know when I pick up a B. J. Daniels book I am going to be telling myself "just one more chapter" well past when I should be doing something else, like sleeping or housework. Even though this his part of a series, it stands alone well. It doesn't take long to get to know the characters and feel at home in Gilt Edge, Montana. The book starts with a scene that grabs your attention and doesn't let go until the end. You can feel the frustration, fear, doubts, confusion, and pain of the characters. Who the characters are and what they are like become clear early on. After a bad marriage, Sheriff Flint Cahill has found someone who brings light and happiness into his life. Maggie loves him dearly but has issues of her own. His ex-wife has never fully left his life and still does what she can to make him miserable. When the unthinkable happens, a race against time and an unknown enemy drive Flint nearly to the breaking point. As is often the case in Daniels' books, there are sub-plots adding interest running through the story. The suspense and action pull you along at a rapid pace. The twists and turns the story takes keep you wondering and hold a few surprises. COWBOY'S RECKONING is a bonus short story included after Flint and Maggie's story. You will enjoy Billie Dee and Henry's road to their HEA. It may be a short story, but it still has the tension, suspense, and twists that are to be expected in a B. J. Daniels' book. I especially appreciate that this is an older couple. Age may slow us down, but that doesn't mean we don't need or want someone to care for and to have someone care for us. Older couples want and deserve their own HEA.

Its was a okay book, it kept jumping around a lot and not enough time with Flint and Maggie. I guess I am used to hot steamy reads with the love scenes. I live threw my books, this is as dry as my life. Add some hot steamy love scenes, it would be a lot better read.

Cowboy's Legacy presents a tangled web of suspense that B.J. Daniels unravels with flair and expertise. Flint Cahill and Maggie Thompson have been dating for a while, but things seem to be getting serious. Maggie decides it's time to move in with Flint, but the day she begins moving her things she disappears. All suspicion is placed on Flint's jealous ex-wife who has been nothing but trouble. When her alibi checks out the search continues in a new direction. Flint calls in a PI couple to investigate the background of a woman who went missing from the area recently. Somehow there's a connection between the two disappearances, and Flint will do everything in his power to find it before Maggie is taken away from him forever. This story was way more involved than I expected it to be. I thought it would be heavy on the romance and light on suspense, but my, oh my was I surprised! About 80% of the story involves the race against time to find Maggie and Jenna, and the rest is getting to know the characters better. Flint is the sheriff of the town and his character dominates the pages. He's a hero in every respect, and the kind of character you know deserves love because he spends most of his time caring for others, like his brothers and sister. Maggie has an interesting history, but her personality was bland and forgettable, even overshadowed by Flint's dramatic ex-wife. Only the events happening around her made her a distinct character, otherwise she seemed more like a one dimensional, secondary character. The winter setting doesn't take away from the cheer that spills throughout the story. Even through a dire situation Flint and his family and friends rally together and look forward to whatever good things come their way. Overall, Cowboy's Legacy is a superb romantic suspense novel that will appeal to readers of Delores Fossen! *Review copy provided in consideration for review*

Suspenseful, intricate, and action-packed! Wild Ride Cowboy is a fast-paced thrill ride featuring the desperate and determined Sheriff Flint Cahill as he races against time to find his missing, injured girlfriend Maggie who seems to have vanished into thin air. The writing is taut and tight. The characters are multifaceted, resilient, and troubled. And the plot, including all its compelling subplots, quickly unravels and intertwines taking you from the snowy hills of Montana across state lines and back again in an engrossing mystery filled to the brim with suspects, clues, red herrings, solid deductions, swirling emotions, and a sliver of romance. Overall, Wild Ride Cowboy is an enjoyable, entertaining whodunit with a satisfying ending, and even though it's the third book in the "Cahill Ranch" series, it can certainly be read as a standalone novel.

Favorite Quotes: She repeated the woman’s words verbatim. It was a gift from when she’d been the worst gossip in the county. She never got what she’d heard wrong She’s the kind of woman who would eat her young. My Review: Two women had disappeared from a small rural community with one overlapping similarity recounted by witnesses. Many chapters later we discover many more overlapping issues for these two well-constructed mysteries that had confounded the authorities and crossed three state lines. I was confounded by the knowledge that this talented author has written thirteen different series for a total of two-hundred-thirty books, and this is just my second time to stumble upon one of her intriguing tales. For shame, I have been remiss. Ms. Daniels is a gifted storyteller and weaves an engaging and entertaining tale with suspense, humor, quirky yet knowable characters, and colorfully described and vividly detailed visuals. The story was well-crafted and deviously plotted with twists and turns and blind alleys to keep us hapless readers on our toes as well as humble. I will certainly be humbly watching her listings from now on. Empress DJ

"Cowboy's Legacy" is a thrilling romantic suspense, perfect for fans of 'Longmire.' Flint and Maggie have been together a while, and although they have been thinking about taking the next step, something has been keeping them apart- that something being Celeste, Flint's ex-wife who cheated on him and then left him for another man. Despite having been the one to leave, Celeste does not want Flint to move on with Maggie and has done some terrible things to try to scare her away- however, as the evidence has not been clear, she has been able to escape the law, much to the Sheriff Flint's chagrin. Maggie has finally decided to move in with Flint and is doing so when she is attacked and kidnapped. Flint arrives home to find her blood on the floor and signs of a struggle, fearing the worst, he immediately calls his undersheriff, Mark, and begins the investigation- starting with Celeste. As time ticks by, the investigation deepens and everyone is on the case- but will they be able to find her before it's too late? The book features not only Flint's perspective, but also Maggie's (which is really intense/makes it a thriller), the private investigators Flint gets to help, and Vicki/Harp's perspectives (Harp is a deputy dating Vicki who is pregnant and we follow their relationship). Although built as a romantic suspense, I would say it's 99% suspense and 1% romance (and without detailed intimate scenes). As Flint and Maggie are separated, we don't see much of their relationship- we see more of Vicki and Harp, but they aren't particularly lovable characters. Flint reminds me a lot of Longmire with the cowboy sheriff feel and willingness to do anything to solve the case. Overall, I really loved this book and devoured it in an afternoon (which I didn't expect to do)- it's so intense and absolutely gripping. I highly recommend this book to lovers of suspense/thrillers and police procedurals- you'll easily get sucked into this thrilling search for a missing woman. Please note that I received this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Gone in the blink of an eye! Family and friends rally around the Sheriff when the light of his life suddenly disappears. The core characters are quite intriguing and you are drawn into their situation as soon as the story starts … there are also several sub-plots, one that was very beneficial to the story, with a couple more that didn’t add a lot to the storyline. Overall a solid book with strife, danger and happily ever afters! Sheriff Flint Cahill has finally found something to look forward to in life again after an unpleasant divorce from his rocky marriage. The new love in his life, Maggie Thompson, brings sunshine to his days and love to his heart and he’s ready to move forward with making their relationship something to last forever … but just as they are on the verge of taking that next step, Maggie vanishes! All signs point to an abduction … and his finger is pointing at his troublesome ex-wife! Will Flint be able to bury his rage long enough to be able to figure out where she’s being held before it’s too late to bring her home again?

This is the first in the series that I’ve read and I’m not sure how much of that impacted the story.  What I got was more suspense than romance – the two leads spend 98% of the book apart and there isn’t a lot of backstory to fill things in – but maybe they made appearances in early books ... I'm not sure.  I’m not saying that it wasn’t enjoyable (it was really good, actually) but it was different that what I was expecting.  So, having said that, I’ll get to the really good part :)  The mystery over what happened to Maggie kept me on the edge of my seat.  Daniels does a great job of leading you through the investigation and revealing each piece as it comes up.  Nothing felt overly heavy handed and nowhere did it feel like you were being sent on a wild goose chase unnecessarily.  It is so easy for a mystery to get away from the author but I was truly quite satisfied with the big reveal & resolution. Daniels is a fan favorite for a reason and she shows it once again! *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***

I don't know how B.J. keeps writing these amazing books but I feel like I've been on a long roller coaster ride after each one and I have to sit and catch my breath after reading it! This one is no exception! I especially love that she has a few other "side stories" with other characters going along with the main characters. Even those are interesting and move the story along! This book was exciting from the get go because we've met both the main characters - Flint and Maggie - before in previous books in the series AND they've already established that they are sweethearts! Their path to love has been a little rocky because Flint's ex-wife, Celeste, has done a lot of things to keep them apart. However, the day Maggie decides to move in with Flint, she is abducted and all eyes are automatically on Celeste. It doesn't help that Celeste mysteriously goes out of town that day also and no one can reach her! So the story begins! Flint, who is the sheriff, is taken off the case because of his relationship with Maggie and he is going crazy, understandably, but that doesn't mean he's doing nothing! I love these characters and am totally invested in the Cahill family! They are a great group of siblings who are there for each other yet speak their mind when needed! Flint changes a lot during this book and I can't wait to see him in the following books. I think he'll be a different kind of sheriff. He broke a lot of rules in this book (regarding the law) and he NEVER broke rules before! We get to witness the strength of Maggie as she goes through this abduction and she learns things about her past that she never knew before. I always think, when I'm reading a book like this, could I be as strong as this character??? In this case, I would hope so!!! Maggie had to be very strong and very brave! Another things I enjoyed was two characters coming back from a previous series of B.J.'s! It was so fun for them to be included in this book! I wont spoil the surprise for readers! I definitely recommend this book! It was fantastic!

This installment of the series was not what I expected at all but reading it was time well spent. While the title seems to be a misnomer, the story itself is a combination of non-stop suspense, drama and action that will keep you flipping pages very quickly as you join the characters in a race against time to unearth secrets that are the key to untangling the mystery surrounding Maggie’s disappearance. Flint is relentless in his search for Maggie and finds himself open to bending the laws he upholds so unflinchingly in his quest to find her. I enjoyed that many of the tidbits that we got from the previous two books came together in this book, a wrap up of the overarching story-line. We get to know both Flint and Maggie much better as well as their histories and how their pasts have shaped their present and their romance. I had so much fun reading this book even though it was not the usual romance. This story is like inadvertently getting on a runaway train, in a good way and will leave you surprised but also happy that you got to read it. I’m keeping my review spoiler-free because I think everyone should experience this book for themselves, without any hints. Disclaimer: I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book. RATING 4.5 STARS Cowboy’s Legacy is book three in the Cahill Ranch series by B.J. Daniels. I want to admit up front that I am a romance reader and I especially love romances involving cowboys. I’ve been wanting to try a book by B.J. Daniels for a while now and one look at this cover and I decided this one would be my first. This book is so different than what I thought it would be. It’s more of a suspense filled race against time as the Hero tries to rescue the woman he loves from a kidnapper. If I had known this up front, I might not have chosen this book but I am so glad that I did. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and was surprised over and over again as events unfolded. Maggie Thompson has been dating Sheriff Flint Cahill for quite awhile. These two have been introduced in previous books in this series but even though I haven’t read them, it didn’t take away from the book at all. It was evident the connection these two had and Flint has asked Maggie to move in with him. But their romance has not been uneventful so far. Flint’s ex-wife has caused Maggie considerable trouble. And Maggie has a few skeletons in her closet as well. Things she is sure would drive Flint away. Maggie has finally decided to say yes to Flint. She’s in love with him and it is time to trust in her heart. Except it is also the day Maggie disappears, the day she is taken. Flint is desperate to find Maggie. He understands that it is protocol but he is taken off the case. Every hour that passes is an hour that he could lose her forever. He’s not supposed to be on the case but he can’t help it. He has to find her. It’s almost Christmas. Flint had dreamed that this would be their first Christmas together as an engaged couple. He’d been carrying around the ring for months. Now he might never get to give it to her. This book was non-stop, intense, crazy suspenseful. There are several little side stories going on at the same time. Every chapter brought something new and it kept me on the edge of my seat. So, now you know that this isn’t really a regular romance. It’s a crazy, wild ride that will have you biting your nails with each page that you turn. I am so glad I took a chance on this book. I hope you will too.

This is the third installment in the Cahill Ranch series by B.J. Daniels. In the first two books, we met some of the other Cahill family, but this book centers around Sheriff Flint Cahill. A loner since his divorce from his crazy first wife, Flint has finally found love with Maggie Thompson. It’s taken him some time, but he’s ready to take the next step. Maggie, with her own issues, has finally decided to move in with Flint. And that’s when things get really crazy. When Maggie goes missing, everyone wants to believe the crazy ex-wife of Flint’s is to blame. After all, she’s made attempts at scaring Maggie off in the past. As the story unfolds, Flint’s dedication to his job is tested when he’s pulled off the case. He finds it impossible to do nothing even though he believes in the officer in charge. While the drama with Maggie continues, some of our old friends come back into the story from previous books. It’s good to have Frank and Nettie Curry back. They’re now Private Investigators working for Flint looking for clues. Vicki and Harp return with their continuing story. Harp, one of Flint’s deputies always seems to come out smelling like a rose, when he really shouldn’t and Vicki just needs to grow up! Daniels has a flare with characters – she makes you like them. You even like the ones that aren’t all that likable at the start. And then there are the bad guys. I LOVE the way Daniels crafts the bad guys (and girls). I received this book for free in return for an honest review. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a page turner and a great story. This book can be read as a stand-alone.
