Overview

A Harley and a highway are all an Iraqi war veteran needs to soothe her restless spirit-until a pit stop puts her on the front lines of love . . .

Settling down is not an option for Mackenzie Parish. Since the end of her tour of duty, the former Marine has been on the road, doing what she can to ease the pain of her wounded shoulder and mind. But when her money runs out, she takes a job on a Wyoming ranch-and finds herself in unfamiliar territory once more . . .

Mackenzie's lesson number one: a horse is definitely nothing like a motorycle. But even knee deep in manure, and saddle sores aside, Mac finds comfort in the daily routine of hard work and the great outdoors. Only her bunkmate, Hank Nash, provides an unsettling distraction. The former champion bull rider has returned home to reconnect with his estranged daughter. Yet despite his own struggles, he has the patience to show Mac the ropes, and the sweet touch to draw her out of herself-and her violent past.

But when the ranch becomes the target violent threats, Mac will have to choose between the call of the road-and the man who has helped her feel whole again . . .

If you love a good cowboy romance, this is your book. It's based on real life, hard work, and real people.

A Harley and a highway are all an Iraqi war veteran needs to soothe her restless spirit—until a pit stop puts her on the front lines of love . . . This was a great story. I loved that it was a female war veteran for once. I really enjoyed following Mackenzie on her journey. I recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book

I got this as the Friday Freebie from BN. I love finding new authors through BN Readouts. I am a big fan of contempoary western romance. But add a little suspense and you have a very enjoyable read. The heroine, Mackenzie or Mac, is a veteran trying to deal with she saw and did in Iraq. Hank, a bull rider who has ridden his last 8 second ride, is trying to repair his relationship with the teenage daughter he left behind. 2 people broken, trying to survive their pasts, find the strength they need in each other. Add a little suspense that includes cattle rustling and a horse stampede. I really enjoyed this book. Well written characters and action. I will be reading more from Ms. Tharp.

I didn't read the synopsis, just went to the 1st page and began to read...I got confused went, to the synopsis and then realized that the motorcycle rider was the heroine of the story. That said, i enjoyed the book. Mac and Hank make an interesting couple. The story line was well rounded. I also like the fact that it's not a series.
