Coyote Cal is the hero of this here tale. And Big Yap is his trustworthy, old sidekick. Six weird and wild stories in the old West. This collection was more fun than rowdy rodeo. Bigger than life characters where over the top works wonderfully. Familiar western story plots with supernatural twists. Shape-shifters, zombies, witches, vampires, and monsters. The stories are clever and highly entertaining. "Fool's Gold" was my favorite and the perfect tale to start off the collection. Coyote Cal and Big Yap face off against a wizard that has some surprising powers. "El Diablo de Paseo Grande" was a close second. While I'm a big fan of Cal, I also liked the addition of Donna Jamison. She's a witch and not you're typical woman of the old west. She's got bite, but there might be things in the dark that she can't face alone. Highly recommended for those that love weird west stories.
