CHAPTER 1

Newborn Booties

Materials

• Cascade Yarns Fixation light (light worsted) weight cotton/elastic yarn (1¾ oz/100 yds/50g per ball):

1 ball each #8001 opulent white and #5960 sea glass

• Size H/8/5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

• Tapestry needle

Gauge

In st pattern: 18 sts = 3 inches; 13 rows = 4 inches

Pattern Notes

This project is made with a yarn that contains elastic, which allows the finished project to stretch. Use of yarn without elastic may require alterations.

Do not cut off color changes while making cuff until instructed otherwise. Carry yarn along the sides of work.

Use care not to pull tightly at the color change as this will cause buckling and the stretchiness will be diminished.

Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.

Rows 47 & 48: Rep rows 3 and 4. At end of last row, fasten off.

With tapestry needle, sew row 1 to row 48, forming circle.

Trim

Hold piece with 1 long edge at top, join(see Stitch Guide) white in seam, ch 1, sc in end of each row around, join in first sc.

Rep on opposite long edge.

Bow

First End

Row 1: With sea glass, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. (3 sc)

Rows 2–7: Rep rows 2–7 of First Side.

Center

Rnd 1: With sea glass, ch 6, join in first ch to form ring, ch 1, sc in each ch around, join in first sc, turn. (6 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join in first sc. Fasten off.

Assembly

Weave in all ends securely. Insert end piece through Center and adjust. With tapestry needle and seaglass, sew Bow to Headband as shown in photo.

• Premier Yarns Deborah Norville Everyday Soft Worsted medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (4 oz/203 yds/113g per skein):

3 skeins each #1001 snow white and #1023 mist

1 skein each #1006 baby pink, #1042 neon pink, #1027 lemon and #1017 azure

1/3 yd #1012 black

• Sizes J/10/6mm and H/8/5mm crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge

• Tapestry needle

Size J hook in st pattern: 13 sts = 4 inches; 6 rows = 4 inches

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Cut a strand of azure approximately 15 inches long and wind around center of bow. Secure end.

• Premier Yarns Home Cotton medium (worsted) weight cotton/ polyester yarn (2¾ oz/140 yds/80g per ball):

1 ball each #3806 orange, #3817 passion fruit, #3818 delft blue and #3801 white

• Size J/10/6mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

• Tapestry needle

• Fabric glue (optional)

Gauge

In st pattern: 17 sts and 10 rows = 4 inches

Pattern Notes

Use colors for MC and CC as shown in photo or as desired.

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

When weaving in ends, a small drop of fabric glue can be applied to ensure security of the cut end.

Dishcloth
