Overview

The first part of my first anthology of random pieces of writing. In it you will discover unfortunate dragons, a planet of squirrels, psychotic technophiles, pieces on natural and supernatural history, amusing Scottish call centre conversations, random musings on life, and the odd quirky poem. Part two - to be published separately, if there's sufficient demand - will bring you a battle between a giant lemming and a 14-headed dog, a young man who is obsessed with skating on frozen lakes of angel blood, some adulterated Scottish history, and a more substantial, very dark short story.

Several of my 'convulsions' are based in Scotland, and Glasgow in particular, my home town. Dialogue is often written in the local dialect, which shouldn't be too difficult to understand if you're familiar with Billy Connolly, Braveheart or Disney's Brave. If many readers struggle, I could always put together a glossary with standard English translations. I'd love to hear your feedback.

Please note that I DO use swear words in some passages; the F word quite frequently, and occasionally the C. It's appropriate to the characters, but if such words offend you then you may wish to skim past 'Ken and Annemarie...' and 'Adventures in Wee Gie City' in particular.

Most of the 'convulsions' are short or very short - often a page of A4 or less - so would be ideal for reading on a quick work commute or while spending time on the 'throne', if you get my drift.

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy.

About the Author

At the time of first publication - November 2015 - the author was only a few months away from turning forty. With an ageing mind growing increasingly full of random craziness, he felt it was time to share the madness with the world, or whatever small section of the world was brave or stupid enough to share in his madness.

And so share it he did. He looks forward to publishing more random stories, sketches and poems in the years to come.

Originally from Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, Ross currently lives in Moray, Scotland's smallest county, with his wonderful long-term girlfriend and two ridiculously cute long-haired guinea pigs.
