With 20+ years in the auto finance industry I have read many books trying to understand FICO scores. This is without a doubt the most clear and concise read on the market. It is highly accurate with only a few misconceptions. I would recommend this to anyone trying to improve their score. It can save you thousands on loans from autos to mortgages. Did you know with a 740 Fico score you can get an automatic approval on a $150k RV or boat with zero down based on only the information you write on a credit application? No verification of income, etc. High scores are also great for the self-employed eliminating debt to income problems. Did you know that 68% of the population has never had a late payment or derogatory item on their credit report in 7 years? However only 35% of them score Tier 1 (lowest rates). This will tell you why. I know all my customers financing cars & boats want to know!
