Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This tropical suspense tale features the three friends, Bamboo, Velvet, and Beak, on their favorite log in the forest. Suddenly, Bamboo hushes his friends. "Why? What's going on?" they ask. A tiny creeping vine has popped out of the forest floor and is looking for something to creep on. Beak assures his friends that the vine will not creep on them, but it swivels around and heads straight for the three friends and their log. They crouch behind the log and stay absolutely still as the vine creeps toward them and slithers up the log. Then it squeezes past and heads straight for a tree where it climbs up, up, up and around, sticking to the tree with its tentacles and coiling around it like a giant snake. The creeper has found a home of its own and the three friends can relax. The text is interspersed with facts about creeper vines and the tropical forests. On the back page there are more facts and a link to the Facthound website. This title is part of the "Bamboo & Friends" series. 2006, Picture Window Books, Ages 4 to 6.
