De-Bons-en-Pierre's Crepes EP was created during a day-long recording session which occurred when Chicago-based experimental house/techno producer Beau Wanzer visited electro artist Maoupa Mazzocchetti at his house in Brussels in April of 2016. The two men encountered language barrier issues, but musically they meshed together perfectly, and Crepes is a fantastic set of electro-techno which nudges toward EBM, industrial, and minimal synth. The synths are always distorted and grubby, sounding as if they've been recorded in a filthy back alley. Several of the tracks have demonic vocals recalling Cabaret Voltaire's Richard H. Kirk, or most any other industrialist who distorts their vocals. It's sinister and aggressive, but there's an element of playfulness that's hard to overlook. Many of the tracks are industrial techno workouts, but "Francine" ventures into jittery electro-punk. The whole EP is loads of fun, and hopefully De-Bons-en-Pierre won't be a one-off.
