It has been a thousand years since the Ruin, yet the world still shows the scars of mankind's distain. Long before the human heart sought to destroy itself we were a prosperous people, but now our glory goes un-remembered. Everything we were is lost and a new dark age has fallen; subduing all life beneath its shadow.
There are whispers on the road, rumours a soulless fear; a dread long thought destroyed. Only the drunk, mad or stupid will give the stories credence and utter the name; Vampire. For all know that hope departs when the dead walk; for blood is their joy and flesh their enticement.
The edges of the world will char and cinder as endless pyres make the night as day. It is a time of sorrowful heroism and sour betrayal; a time when some will give all to see the dawn.
The long night is upon us.
