She's got the brains, he's got the muscle ...

When Kelly Bridge's parents insist on employing a bodyguard for her protection, she's not happy. Okay, so maybe not every woman is on the cusp of developing a vaccine against a potential biological terrorist attack – but crikey, it's not like she's a celebrity!

Ben Jacobs flunked spectacularly out of school, so he knows his new client Dr Kelly Bridge spells trouble for him. But on a conference trip to Rome he finds things are worse than he thought. Not only is he falling for the brilliant scientist, he's also become horribly aware she's in grave danger. As they go on the run, dodging bullets and kidnappers, can he resist his feelings and keep her safe?

About the Author

Kathryn was born in Wallingford, England but has spent most of her life living in a village near Windsor. After studying pharmacy in Brighton she began her working life as a retail pharmacist. She quickly realised that trying to decipher doctor’s handwriting wasn’t for her and left to join the pharmaceutical industry where she spent twenty happy years working in medical communications. In 2011, backed by her family, she left the world of pharmaceutical science to begin life as a self-employed writer, juggling the two disciplines of medical writing and romance. Some days a racing heart is a medical condition, others it’s the reaction to a hunky hero…

With two teenage boys and a husband who asks every Valentine’s Day whether he has to bother buying a card again this year (yes, he does) the romance in her life is all in her head. Then again, her husband’s unstinting support of her career change goes to prove that love isn’t always about hearts and flowers – and heroes can come in many disguises.

Having enjoyed 'Oh Crumbs', I jumped at the chance to read Kathryn Freeman's latest rom-com . and I'm glad I did! Kelly Bridge is a scientist, and a very smart one at that. Working on a potential world-wide breakthrough, her parents - both imminent in their own scientific fields - are concerned about her safety and hire a bodyguard to protect her .. much to Kelly's horror. Ben Jacobs was a career soldier, good at what he does but paper qualifications are not his thing. Now working for a private security company, he is assigned as Kelly's close protection. These two are as far apart as chalk and cheese; how will being thrown together 24/7 impact on their lives? This is a book with lots going for it; a solid story, likeable characters, a surprise or two along the way with plenty of entertainment value. It's certainly a different setting to the usual rom-com read, with quite a few ups and downs. Light-hearted, but with a serious element to the story and a bit of mystery thrown in, it kept my attention throughout. Opposites definitely attract, but once the situation which threw them together in the first place is removed, what then? All you need to do to find out is read the novel for yourself! Another excellent offering, and well worth 4.5 stars.

This book really gives you a lot for your money! A romance, a thriller and a gentle explanation of viral technology! I loved it and had a very late night to finish it before bed. The hero, Ben is a real man in all ways and the heroine, Kelly, a well put together lady. Their initial meeting was unwanted but eventually it all works out, but what a journey. The adventure they embark on is believable and the end unexpected. Make sure you have a stash of chocolate to hand and a suitable beverage as you will not want to put it down!
