I've read Mystery Montage and enjoyed the stories very much so I was excited to read this second collection of stories by Ms. Morin. What I really enjoyed with these stories was that the author delved into her psychology background and wrote some truly wacky yet lovable characters. (Mandy in Split Ends. Herbert in Knotted). As with Mystery Montage the stories cover a wide range of subjects and environments, which keeps the reader engaged and ready for the next story. Looking forward to the next collection!
Patricia Morin's short story collection, "Crime Montage," fulfills the promise of her first book, "Mystery Montage." She creates vivid, realistic and all--too-human characters from many walks of life in stories that range from compelling drama to whimsical fantasy to who-done-it mystery. My favorite, "Going Home," is based on real historical characters--German Jewish refugees trying to escape the Nazis aboard an Ocean liner headed for Cuba. Morin knows how to create entertaining plots full of surprises that make complete sense in hindsight, and she also understands the intricacies of the human heart.
