I read this story on my tablet, but I just recently ordered the printed version. I wanted the feeling of holding it in my hands. I read a lot online, but this is a special kinda book. The story really grabs you and the writer makes the characters so real, like they are people you know. Like they live in your building. You have to have an open mind, because there is stuff in the book that might offend some people. there's cussing but not ta huge amount . It's six hundred pages, which is a lot for me. I usually read two books a week. Romance novels, but this is like so long, but you can't stop reading it because for one, I fell in love with the hero of the story! He's a cop and he saves this young woman from being kidnapped and killed. Then she saves him and thats how it starts. There's a whole lot of crazy drama because he's married and this other cop threatens him. There's really bad cops in this book. They have a conspiracy going on and they are in the illegal drug business. I cried in the middle of the book when she looses the baby. The main point of this book is that you can't give up on the person you really love. The hero proves that and so does the girl. They choose to go thru hell together, if thats what it takes and thats exactly what it takes. I think the story is really incredible, because it shows that really true love can win over evil.

I loved this book. Although it is quite lengthy, it's worth every word. I couldn't put it down. The writing isn't exceptional but I think it's meant to be very straightforward and to the point. The story and the characters are what's exceptional. It's like you are in the story and the writer makes them come to life. It is about two people who fall in love, but shouldn't. The hero of the story is a detective and he saves the love interest at the bar where she works. She's also an artist- she's attracted to him and he's attracted to her, but he's also married. The hero doesn't know but soon finds out that his best friend who's retiring from the police force, is also involved in running a drug ring in the New York City area. This book is so romantic and I thought it to be very authentic and believable. I recommended it to anyone who loves a great romance or a crime drama. I really loved this book and I will read it again, it made me cry because it brings out your emotions for the two lovers and everything they go through.

Beautiful story! Romantic and suspenseful, I fell in love with the two leading characters at the very beginning of the book, it is hard not to because you can easily relate to them. The story is beautiful but it's also painful. It breaks your heart. Much more than a romance novel though, very involved and like one person said very intense.

The story and characters and the exceptional descriptive writing are what carries this book. It's a page turn and very sensual. The writing isn't awe inspiring, but it's the way the author makes the story unfold, is what's really great about this novel. As the reader you feel like you are a fly on the wall, watching and hearing everything. Let me be clear about one thing and that's the love story. To quote Sade, who is the main character's favorite singer, "this is no ordinary love." The novel is EXACTLY what the title reads: Crime Of Passion and then throw in all the passionate, hot love scenes you can handle. There's nothing in there that's lurid or pornographic but you may blush a bit. Really to say I really liked the story would be an understatement, because I finished reading it a month ago and it's still in my head! It's a very provocative, intense, intimate, haunting tale of what goes on behind closed doors, not just in your bedroom, but in the police department. This is an urban love story, where the two main characters are trying to hold on to one another, despite the "malicious intent" that's lurking around every corner. The characters melt into you and you want to call them up and see what's going on, see how they are doing? The novel could use an editor, (632) pages worth, but the minimal spelling errors didn't get in the way of my enjoying the book, because the story carries it forward and you are intrigued to read what happens next. The author's strength is in her ability to develop character's that you care about, and place them in a story that is reality based and in circumstances that the reader can identify with. As with any really great novel, if the character's mean something to you, if you're wondering how they are a month after you've finished the book...what can I say? I'll probably end up reading it again. Yes, it was that good.

"Crime of Passion" was a well written and exciting book. Yes, the book was lengthy, but the ups and downs of events that occured during the love affair between Alex and Trillbey was like being on a Roller Coaster. As i delved into the book, i felt that i knew the  people involved in the drug scandal. The good Detective (Alex) and the dishonest Detective (Maxi) realistically described how corruption could occur on the police force. The intense love that Alex and Trillbey had for one another would remind many of us of our first love. The Author (Laura Lang) did a fantastic job describing the characters and the role that they played in this book. I felt a sadness when i  finished her book., as i did not want it to end.

I loved this story and it ripped my heart out. It's extremely sensual and romantic and draws you into  the characters, which are all very well described. I would categorize it as a very modern Romeo and Juliet that fall in love in New York City. This is an epic love story and a major page turner. The story made me  cry like a baby, because it's a bout a once in a lifetime kind of love- you know what I'm talking about- we've all been there, well most of us have anyway.

This is a tragic story of a one true love. A love that you would give everything up for. With some drama to spice it up. Not that the love story isn't spicy enough. This is a quick read so don't let the number of pages fool you. I say it's a tragic love story, why? You'll have to read it to find out. It brought me to tears

This author really knocked it out of the park with this story. I mean finally someone wrote a story about true love that's not a fairy tale. Its true to life and its about problems that are real and that we have to deal with today. I agree with one of the other reviewers, it could be a modern classic.

A great read! Not to be missed! A story you'll never forget, especially if you're a New Yorker.
