I thought it was wonderful! The author tied in WWII Austria and the current case for Vic. It is not a quick read because of all the physics,  but was well worth it. I thought it was excellent.

Paretsky is one of my favorite authors and this book is one of her best. So many writers who have a central character  seem to run out of good ideas after 10 or so books. VI Warshawski is better and more interesting with each book.  This is the second VI Warshawski book that has touched on the Holocaust. For so long, the books about the Holocaust were recollections of people who managed to survive. Those books were necessary and should be read by everyone. Maybe it really is time for there to be Holocaust fiction. Paretsky handles the fiction mixed with fact well. As with all of Paretsky's books, I highly recommend  Critical Mass.

I loved the fact that the V.I. Warshawski movie with Kathleen Turner was based on this series. I never knew that and I felt like I was visiting old friends as I read through this book. The action was great, and I loved V.I. I enjoyed the time jumps and setting differences. London in 1939 is a lot different from Chicago in the present. The author did a great job with keeping me interested in the history of the atomic bomb. This is definitely a fun book to read and to get lost in another place and time, all while solving a present day mystery. I am giving this book a 4/5. I was given a copy to review, however all opinions are my own.

I have read all Sara Paretsky's books. Can't wait for the next V.I. Warshawski story to come out.

I loved the details in this latest book. The juxtaposition of meth labs with historical developments of physics, nuclear weapons, computers + the Holocaust kept the plot moving.

I give this boo 3 and a half stars.  It was pretty good, but I don't know if I'll read any more of this series.  V.I. does the dumbest things and gets into the most dangerous situations, which just doesn't go with her status as a crack investigator.   She must be a physical wreck!  And some of the schtick is getting old.  But that happens in a series.

I thought this was a terrific book and the writing is some of Paretsky's best. The characters are full and fleshed out which adds great readability to the book. It keeps you guessing right to the end.
