Nice, extensive selection of pattern stitches. I especially like the lacy motifs. The author's brief description preceding each pattern make them all the more enticing. A great, comprehensive reference book.. (I am novice crocheter)

Really nice selection of stitch patterns...this book is NOT meant to be a stitch guide, and it states right on the cover that it is an encyclopedia of patterns, edgings, and more. I love that it covers traditional crochet as well as Tunisian, Filet, and other patterns. In response to a previous review complaining about abbreviations, "hk" stands for hook (probably an oversight by publisher), and the deifinition/instructions for a slip stitch (sl st) is right there near the top of page 271.

This is a reference for stitching patterns, not for stitches themes. No instructions on what a slip stitch is, just patterns in which it is used. Poor explanations of abbreviations - what does hk mean?
