I really liked the first one in this series, but I liked this one better. Maybe its because the hero is a ginger, who knows. Paul is completely adorkable. I know hes supposed to be more rednecky but I really latched on to his dork moments. His plot twist made me very happy. Ilsa proves not to be as shallow and self centered as she was in the first book, and she really responds to the kindness in Paul. I liked that. Her moments of panic before their date were very humanizing. And Bruce is back, doing very Bruce-y things. I adore Bruce

Cross currents is the second in the Southern Elemental Guardians series. Ilsa wasn't supposed to inherit the Rhine Kingdom of her people. When her older sister abdicates the throne, Ilsa is handed a literal world of responsibility that she didn't sign up for. To top it off, she's more than convinced she's not ready. Ready or not, the seat is hers. But a bonk on the head and capture by a marine biologist are not good things for a mermaid. She's going to have to convince them--and herself--that she can be in charge. This is a fantastic story with an unusual heroine and maybe a more unusual hero. This is a great book 2 to this series.
