As members of the "body of Christ" Christians must also put on the "mind of Christ." And it is the purpose of this book to "re-mind" us of the centrality of the cross in human life and its relevance for followers of Jesus, not so much to inform the mind but to help form it in the way of the cross which Jesus walked before us. "We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when adults are afraid of the light" (Plato). Thus each of the three sections of this work contains twelve reflections meant to enlighten both mind and heart. I. The vertical arm of the cross, The Way of Faith, reflects on the mystery of divinity and our relationship with God. II. The horizontal arm of the cross, The Way of Love, deals with the mystery of humanity and our relationships with others. The final section, The center of the cross, The Way -- Jesus, dwells on the mystery of Christ and our relationship with Him. Each of these sections is like the stone David prepared for battle with Goliath -- aimed at the head, but meant for the heart. Enjoy them, debate them, ponder them and discuss them. Let them inspire you on your pathway to the Kingdom.
