Great bilingual book for kids learning to read and speak. Actually, not bad for adults wanting to learn Spanish or English.

I bought this book to help 'break the ice' for my young kids who are learning Spanish. It actually made ME want to speak Spanish again! (I took classes in high school.) Karl's approach is brilliant in many ways. He takes the intimidating factor out of language acquisition by pairing the 2 languages the whole way through. It's like authentic foreign travel without leaving your motherland - okay maybe not quite - but it's very effective for learning! I got a good chuckle out of his play with words in BOTH languages. Also, presenting the material as a mystery picturebook is much more engaging and less threatening than textbooks or even many of the language videos out there. A complex task presented in a fun & simple manner. Keep creating, Karl!

Reviewed by Author Anna del C. Dye for Readers Favorite This is a bilingual book with English writing translated to Spanish on the same page. In a country were many people speak Spanish, this book could help teach the English language to both the Spanish speaker¿s children and to their parents. It could also help teach non-Spanish speakers a foreign language. The story in this book goes from one room to another, or from one person to another, as the readers are shown trails of crumbs leading everywhere. Meanwhile, the narrator asks where the crumbs come from in Spanish and English so the readers can associate the words with their translation. The purpose of the book is to explore the mystery of not only who or what left the crumbs in all these places, but also why. The English version of this story is written in well-done rhymes. It even moves flawlessly through the pages. I am a native Spanish speaker and some of the translation didn't work for me. But overall this is a great bilingual book for young readers.
