Faith Hill's newest album breaks some new ground for her. It is much different than her last effort, much more slick and polished (maybe too much?), more adult contemporary/pop than country. She seems to be trying out several different musical styles on the same CD, maybe not sure what she is best at. What is right with this CD: her likeable, strong voice; her ability to convey emotion, especially on some of the gospel oriented tunes (mate Tim McGraw is very good at this too); the variety of songs. What is wrong: the producer made it a little to polished--is Faith having fun (example: easy to hear on the new Dixie Chick's CD Home) or is she working?; again, the producer layered so many sounds (drum machines, synths, bass) that at times it is hard to pick out Faith's voice from all the mess; maybe too much variety in song style. Next time, Faith, let them bring your fine voice to the front of the songs.

The new album from Faith, Cry, is not pure country. Nor is it pure pop, gospel, or any other musical genre for that matter. Which is what makes it totally incredible- and totally Faith. Faith has dug down deep and traced back to her roots in rural Mississippi, and given us a fusion of all the sounds she grew up listening to- gospel, pop, country, rhythm & blues, and some Faith-style soul. Songs like 'You're Still Here' and 'When The Lights Go Down' show Faith's amazing ability to capture a song and make it her own, wrapping her lush vocals around it and making an ordinary slow song into a soaring ballad. This record is Faith's best yet, for one reason only- because it is pure Faith. She has reached to every corner of her musical influences and brought it all to us in 'Cry'. She has continued to grow musically, and has poured her heart & soul into every track, giving us 14 tracks of Faith at her best. Pure Country? No. But it's Pure Faith, and that's the best you can get.

If you like the song Cry sung by Faith Hill, check out Angie Aparo's music. He is the songwriter of the song and hits top notes. Faith Hill's version is good but the original is sooo much better! The rest of the CD is pure Faith. Cry is found on The American by Angie Aparo.

Faith Hill has outdone herself this time-this CD is absolutely amazing. Though it strays from traditional sounds of country, it is nothing short of perfect. All the guitars and strings add a great background for Faith's strong vocals. I've had this CD for one day and can't stop listening to it. It is definately a CD that is worth buying and sharing with others.

I have been a Faith Hill fan since I first heard "Wild One" and "Piece of My Heart" years ago. While I loved her earlier contemporary country music, I also love her newer, more pop-inspired sound as well. Some of Faith's fans may balk at her crossover success but this album is pure Faith. While it will get airplay on the country stations because she started in Nashville, make no mistake about it--Cry solidifies the pop crossover she began on Breathe a few years back. This is a pop album and a great one to boot. The title track is amazing with Faith's voice in perfect form. And the opening track "Free" starts the CD off with a nice dance groove. Her ballads are great, especially "Unsaveable" and "Beautiful," but one of the best songs is the song "One." I find myself singing along to it each time and hitting the repeat button on my stereo quite often. A great CD all around and a great new sound for Faith Hill.

Sure, you can say that Faith's musical style has changed, but with the release of "Cry", Hill shows that she can pour any emotion into her work. From the liberating tune "Free", to the Faith-meets-Cranberries song "Back to You", and finishing up with the haunting but heartfelt melody "Your Still Here", she proves that theres not much she can't handle. Strictly a country fan, you might want to preview this cd before you purchase it. Otherwise, get ready for a leap of Faith, and a good "Cry"!

Faith Hill's new cd cry is amazing. She showed her true self in this album. The background music is exelent, and her voice is as incredable as ever. I think this is the best album she has released to date. My favorite song is "This Is Me", although I love them all.

If you know the sound of Celine Dion you will know faith hill´s voice she has similar range and she got pipes Faith is great i don´t look at her as only a country singer but also as a popsinger and balladeer,Faith is just like Celine she tries new sounds as on this album we have a little bit of RN,B in Free and Stronger,Ballads and pop such as country but not.Faith is one of the greatest female vocalists in history at my onpinion there is only few divas that sounds so great as Faith,Celine,Mariah and Barbra Streisand. I Recommend This album and There You´ll be for all Celine fans and Mariah fans as well you´ll love this one.

Cry is hands down the best music Faith Hill has ever put out. She just keeps evolving for the better. If your looking for some major twang, you will not find it here! But if you are looking for some good music with a heart and soul, Cry is the CD for you.

This is a superb album, I love the different styles of music Faith incorporated into it. Although one wouldn't expect these kinds of songs from a country singer, they are nonetheless amazing. Beautiful lyrics and melodies.. Definately buy it!

I enjoy listening to this album, particularly "Cry", "When the Lights Go Down" (fantastic song), and especially "Beautiful." However, the non-single tracks aren't as good as I was hoping. Still, this is worth your cash if you're a long-time Faith fan who doesn't mind the pop influences or enjoyed the songs on the radio and can find it on sale somewhere. Not the greatest overall album that I've listened to recently, but good nonetheless.

I am listening to the CD as I write this. It got me hooked. I have been listening to the CD over and over again for serveral days now. Some CDs you have to listen several times before you start really enjoying it. This is not the case of "CRY". I got hooked from the beginning. My favourite song is "beautiful". I live in Brazil and, therefore, I do not have the "enhanced" version, which, I suppose, would give me access to Faith Hill's TV. When I place the CD on my CD-ROM drive, though, I have access to the "CRY Video", the "making of" the album, etc, but NOT to Faith Hill's TV!! I am not an expert, so this review is based upon whether I enjoyed the album or not: I ASSURE YOU I DID. It was worth waiting five years from "Breathe" until "CRY", because Faith Hill has become better than ever. I hopefully wait for a DVD out of "CRY", and, who knows, Faith's visit (and tour) to Brazil. Amazing job, Faith, fantastic! (I had to stop writing to listen to "You're still here" - this song moves me deeply)

Let me preface this review and say I was not a big fan of Faith Hill's when she was a pure country artist but as she's started leaning more towards a pop sound, I've been enjoying her more and more. I bought this CD last fall when it came out and I listened to it for a few weeks and put it away. I recently popped it into the CD drive again and I have not been able to stop playing it. I listen to it everyday! The music has a great lite-rock/pop feel and Faith's delivery on some of the songs is fantastic. The way she sings really shows what an incredible artist she is. On each song, she conveys the emotions of the lyrics and really brings the song to whole other level. I love the title track CRY and UNSAVEABLE is a great R&B number, reminding me of those old doo-wop R&B songs. Other favorites include WHEN THE LIGHTS GO DOWN and IF THIS IS THE END. YOU'RE STILL HERE closes out the CD with a beautiful haunting melody.

Faith's most recent CD is great. Although she has crossed over with a bit more pop sound, there is still some country twang in it. She is great, and it sounds like she didn't stray too far from home on this one. It is good from the start, and continues to grow on you as you listen each time. I think you'll like it!

Well, if you're lookin' fer Country Music, you're at the wrong CD. Faith Hill goes full-blown pop music, harkening back to the halcyon days of Sheena Easton, Bonnie Tyler, and Linda Ronstadt - with a touch of Britney funk and Shania polish thrown in. The single - and title-cut - "Cry" is worth the price of admission, and, sadly, not another cut approaches the chill-inducing power of this instant classic. Other songs range from quite good to quite average, but the over-all CD is an enjoyable listen, if you can make it past "Cry" without hitting the repeat button. A solid effort - Hill's voice is a revelation. The girl really has pipes, and she flat-out cuts loose here!! Take that voice and give it all A material and her next one should be awesome!! Definitely worth having.

I got it for Christmas, and have listened to it several times hoping that it would grow on me. It hasn't...Faith's voice is still rock solid, but the mix of songs don't suit her, in my opinion.

Mrs. Hill, I love this CD!! It completely erases all the musical lines, like pop, country, and all the other nonsense. And don't worry about the bad critics who dont know what they're talking about(JANE magazine). Look at it this way, if you have people desperately trying to find something bad to say about you, than you're doing something right, aren't you?!

To anybody who can tell me who the original male artist to perform "Cry" was please post it here. Ever since Faith covered it I cant seem to find anyone who knows it was done before her.
