Overview

Cuffed by K. Bromberg

From the New York Times bestselling author, K. Bromberg, comes a new standalone in her Everyday Heroes world that proves true love will always stand the test of time.

"I hate you. I never want to see you again."

Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville--at least that's what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade, ring in my ears every time a townsperson brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again.

Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons--sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer. But Grant is off limits because he knows too much about my past.

But I'm drawn to him. That damn uniform of his doesn't hurt either. It'll be my downfall. I know it.

What's one night of sex going to hurt . . . right?
***
I've always loved Emmy Reeves.

That's why I'm shocked to see her all these years later. The shy girl I once knew is all grown up.

Adventurous and full of life, she owns my heart now, just as much as she did back then. Convincing her of that is a whole different story.

I'll give her the one night she asks for--like that's a hardship--but when it comes to letting her walk away after, she has another thing coming. There's no way in hell I'm letting her go this time without a fight.

This book, once again Bromberg emotionally rings me out with her story! I cried! Something I should expect with all of her books it seems. But this one had such an intense back story, and such a heart-breaking case that Grant is on as a cop. Of course his case is similar to what Emmy's past was, the thing that sent her away from her friend Grant. Emmy fought so hard against getting back with him, and it was hard not to empathize with her and her past. But it was so wonderful to see how hard Grant fought for her. There was something at the very beginning that I just knew would come into play later in the book to cause an obstacle for them. I learned a new term for friends with benefits, banging buddies, hadn't heard that one before! Since I'd already read/listened to book 2, I already knew Grady, but I kinda want to go back and reread/listen to hear things that might make more sense after getting this first one read. And while there was a short time in my life I thought I'd like to skydive, I've since decided I don't want to. But then, the rush that they talk about afterwards? Well, I kinda want to experience it just once!

Wow, this has to be one of my favorite books of all time. I love second chance stories and this one was done perfectly. It was so sweet and you’re not going to find better characters than Grant and Em. I never think books are funny but Grant and Em had some of the best banter that I have ever read. It was a nice balance with the more emotional parts of the book. But anyway, the plot was also great. I loved the story and history between these two. I love the whole cop situation too. It seems like we never have these guys as our heroes. 2018 is just starting but I know this will be one of my favorite reads of the year. This series is going to be amazing. If a million more books came out in this series, I would buy every single one.

This story had it all. I was very impressed. It wasn't at all what I expected from the book. It was also the first time I read a book from this author. I highly recommend this. I was hooked from start to finish. I'll be checking out more from this author

I loved the story. The first part of the book was slow for me. But the rest was typical of this author. Worth the time to add to your reading list. Can't wait for the next book!

4.5 Stars for Cuffed A new series from K. Bromberg and if book one is anything to go by she has yet another 5 Star series on her hands. Cuffed is an emotional read, it’s a real love story with characters that are dealing with a lot of past issues, if you love second chance love this is a must read. Emmy and Grant are characters that will steal a piece of your heart, a protective hero and a heroine that is Sassy is just the tip of the iceberg for this story. I read this book in one sitting, it captivated me and i fell in love with Grant a man who is determined to break down the walls that Emmy has built around herself, yes I cried at Emmy’s past it touched me in a piece of my soul that I had buried but the outcome made up for every tear I shed. I’m not going to tell you the story because I think touching on it will spoil it for you so I’m just going to leave you with “this is a book you need to one click “

Everyday Heroes is off to a fantastic start with Cuffed!! In this book we not only got to meet Grant Malone, also known as Officer Sexy but we were introduced to his parents, his brothers Grady and Grayson, and Grayson's young son Luke. This is a close family, yeah they argue and disagree with each other, but they always have one another's backs. The heroine in this book is Emerson Reeves, also known as Emmy, and she tries to be confident and in control, but when she's not she finds that jumping out of an airplane or driving extremely fast helps her to clear her mind. Grant and Emmy were best of friends when they were little, but a secret shared and a pinky promise broken, tore them apart, and Emmy's last words to Grant was that she hated him and never wanted to see him again. They do see one another again, but Emmy doesn't want to share what happened to her, she doesn't want to remember, she only wants to live in the moment. Grant wants to know that she has forgiven him for breaking a promise and all he really wants is for Emmy to be happy. This is a very emotional yet heartwarming book dealing with some mighty hard subjects but K. Bromberg handled it all beautifully. There are some special characters in the book that I also fell in love with, one was Desi, Emmy's best friend and the other was little Keely, my heart broke for her. You will not want to put this one down, and when you read the last page, don't stop there. Be sure to read the note from the author at the end, it explains how some things came about in the book. Five "Head Up. Wings Out" stars for this one!!!

Wow - I thought this book was great and then I read the note from the author and I was floored! A great if at times harrowing read. Emmy and Grant are both great characters, and the whole Malone family are the best. It will be great to read the rest of the Malone Brother stories - I can't wait.

K. Bromberg comes through again. A very well written story considering the subject matter.

This was an emotional book. The way Ms. Bromberg dealt with a difficult subject was handled with kid gloves, and I appreciated that. I probably would not have read something that dealt with that because I do not like being sad, but I can honestly say I did not feel that way after reading it. When we first met Emmy I did not think that I was liking her, but as the story continues you change your outlook on her and you understand why she was so standoffish at first. Then there is Grant, huh I wanted to be cuffed by him, here was this guy who was not the type to get into relationships, but when he reconnects to Emmy that all changed. As you read their story, you can't help but root for them.. I can't wait for the next one...

“I need to do the one thing I do every day in my life professional life but can’t seem to ever do personally; leap before looking. I need to follow my motto: Heads up. Wings out.” “I only live in the now. I only live in tomorrows. I can only cope with the future I make for myself.” “It only takes a split second for him to react, to part his lips and give me a taste of beer on his tongue. For him to consume my mind and shift it away from the hundreds of thoughts I don’t want to be thinking.” Cuffed is the first book in an exciting new series, Everyday Heros. Cuffed is told from dual points of view and follows the story of Emmy and Grant. Emmy and Grant were the best of friends, totally inseparable. All that changed when Grant told a secret that would forever change Emmy’s life. It wasn’t his secret to tell, but Grant would do anything for those he cared about. He didn’t know that the day he told Emmy’s secret, would be the last time he would see her. Now, 12 years later, fate has reunited the two of them. Seeing Grant again after all this time has stirred up feelings, memories and emotions that Emmy thought she had laid to rest. Emmy tries to run from Grant, but Grant isn’t taking no for answer. He misses his old friend and can’t fight the attraction that he has for her. Will Emmy forgive Grant for his mistakes of the past? Will Emmy and Grant finally be able to move on? Will Emmy and Grant take a chance on the intense connection that they feel? There is only one way to find out….. Cuffed is a fantastic start to the Everyday Heros Series. Cuffed starts off with one intriguing beginning and has you curious to find out more. I thought that Emmy was a really interesting character. You could tell that her life wasn’t perfect and that her past had shaped the person she has become. She doesn’t trust all that easily and would rather forget the past than dwell on it. Seeing Grant after all that time totally knocked her on her feet. Not only was she trying to ignore the past, but she didn’t want to give into the connection that she still shared with Grant….And Grant….I really liked him. He was a really good guy and he didn’t have any trouble getting women. But, when he sets his mind on something, wild horses can’t stop him. Seeing Emmy again after all that time, knocked his world off its axis. He couldn’t get her out of his head and would stop at nothing to see her again….I really enjoyed Emmy and Grant together. I loved their friendship and their chemistry. Their road to hea wasn’t an easy one. I love that they had to work for it and had to fight for what they wanted. Overall, I thought this book was a terrific read. I loved the characters. I loved the story-line. I just couldn’t get enough. This book was easily devoured in just one sitting and can not wait for more. I look forward to get my hand on the next book in this series and seeing which character will steal my heart next!

emotional and heartbreaking CUFFED is the first instalment in K. Bromberg's contemporary adult EVERYDAY HEROES romance series focusing on the Malone brothers: Grant, Grayson and Grady Malone. This is police officer Grant Malone, and skydiving instructor Emerson 'Emmy' Reeves' story line. Told from dual first person perspectives (Emerson and Grant) using present day and memories from the past, CUFFED follows the rebuilding relationship between childhood friends Grant Malone, and Emerson Reeves. At the age of eight years old Grant Malone lost his best friend Emerson Reeves when secrets behind closed doors forced our hero to find a way to save the little girl he would always love. Fast forward twenty years wherein Emerson Reeves returns to Sunnyville in an attempt to start her own business-Blue Skies-a business that is currently struggling but available for sale. But for Emerson Reeves a return to Sunnyville also means a return of the long forgotten memories and pain of a time long ago-memories our heroine has buried along with her past. Enter Grant Malone, Sunnyville's resident 'sexy copy', and the man Emerson blames for everything that went wrong. What ensues is the rebuilding but struggling relationship between two people whose lives went in different directions twenty years earlier. Grant Malone's reputation as a player precedes his re-introduction to our story line heroine but Emerson Reeves emotions and anger towards our story line hero are predicated on an eight year old child's inability to deal with events that no eight year old child should ever endure. For close to twenty years Emerson has placed the blame on her nomadic lifestyle on the actions of an eight year old boy- a boy whose love and friendship with Emerson meant protecting the little girl at all costs. The focus of the story looks at one woman's past, and her need to act out and strike at the young boy, now a man, who The relationship between Emerson and Grant is one of second chances; of a friendship destroyed by mistaken beliefs, time and distance; of one young girl's horrific past and the buried memories of what happened and why. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. We are introduced to Grant's siblings: Firefighter Grady, and rescue pilot Grayson Malone; their parents retired police Chief Malone and his wife Betsy; Grant's partner on the force Officer Nate; Emerson's best friend Desi Whitman; Blue Skies jump coordinator Leo, and loan officer Chris Severson. CUFFED is an emotional and heartbreaking story; a second chance for two people whose loved and lost so much more than a schoolyard friend. The premise is sexy, edgy and powerful; the characters are passionate and real; the romance is sensual and energetic. K. Bromberg invites the read into an intimate story of friendship and family; moving forward and letting go.

Cuffed is a book that will have you pull an all nighter to finish reading it. I knew Officer Malone was going to be my favorite book guy. From the beginning to the end he was always the one who needed to save the world. You find out his demons and vulnerability which makes you want to reach out and give him a hug. Through and through what he does is for the best, but sometimes it is not what is right for those he loves. I get it now. Cuffed was such an emotional read. I went through a whole Kleenex box with this book. My heart shattered a dozen times over. Kristy puts these words together and you can not help but feel what everyone else is feeling. Being scared and terrified of the unknown. Knowing that there are monsters out there in the dark. I cried for the broken, and I cried for the innocent. I love Emmy and knew she was not only a survivor, but a fighter. With Grant by her side, she would overcome her past. The reunion for Emmy and Grant was unconventional. I was left thinking, "What just happened?" I loved Emmy's friend Desi. She has no filter! The Malone brothers are all alpha and ready to protect and serve. I can not wait to read about them in the upcoming books. The sexy scenes were not only scorching hot, but it brings out so many feels. Cuffed was not what I was expecting. It was so much more. As I write my review, my heart and emotions lay on me heavily. Cuffed will give you every feel your body can handle. It will bring you hope and it will remind you we can all overcome the dark. Cuffed is my top book to close out 2017 with. I can not recommended this book enough!

A simple thought said aloud can have many different reactions. Depending on the situation of course... “I hate you. I never want to see you again.” If you heard this on a playground as a child, you might stick out your tongue. You might make the same comment or you might cry. As an adult, your reactions might be the same as a child. But in this book, these words haunt. They haunt characters, readers, and terrible memories. They have an epic amount of hurt and are flung drenched in pain. They make you want to curl in a ball and cry. They make you want to hug them away. K. Bromberg pulled no punches with this book. She makes sure you feel the trapped itchy need to run. She makes you feel the frustration of a hero complex that burns with the need to help but no one will let you help them. Most of all the lost feeling that swirls inside a lost character fighting demons they aren't sure are real. As if crying through the book wasn't enough, K. Bromberg drops a nuke on your heart in her authors note. To all the Olives out there, I hope you find your happily ever after. I just re-read my review and realized it's a total downer. Don't get me wrong this book is still hot. With smokin' chemistry, a hot uniform, and an insatiable urge to argue, it has everything you need to enjoy the fireworks. (Including the fireman if things get out of hand!)

I haven't stayed up in so long to read a book and this book...THIS BOOK...This book made my heart so happy! I could not put it down!!!!! Grant and Emerson were best friends in the third grade until one day be broke his pinky promise to her and she vowed to hate him forever. Seeing her twenty years later is a shock to him and while she tries to push him away, he relentlessly pursues her for a friendship because he has missed her all these years, wondering what has become of her since she moved away so many years ago. The way he installs himself in her life—making her angry as all hell—had me laughing out loud. This back and forth battle so quintessentially "them" had me falling in love with them over and over again. Grant has always wanted to be her hero so I loved his profession as a cop and the way in which he put one particular case at the forefront of his mind—not just doing a job for the sake of doing a job—but because he is a good person, with a heart wanting to do what's right because he could not save the one person who he has always loved—Emerson from her tragic past. Some of the chapters are told in past POV where you get to fully see the back story and my heart plummeted in my chest and it just brought tears to my eyes... wait til you read the author's note in the back *ugly cries* Cuffed is my new favorite Bromberg book—it has everything you want in a book—a great story, a swoon worthy hero, a strong heroine and I promise you that it will bring out all the feels. This book will wreck havoc on your emotions—it is a powerful story of overcoming the past hurts, finding trust in the ones that will never let you down and will showcase a love that is so pure that your heart will sing with joy. Cuffed is an EPIC friends to lovers (and second chance love story!) that will stay with you for a long time. This book is the start of a new series by Bromberg that is on my TBR list and I can not wait for more!!! #TopFave2017 5 Head Up. Wings Out STARS!!!!

A Review of Cuffed by K. Bromberg Grant and Emmy - 5+++++ stars Ms. Bromberg has definitely done it again. She has brought characters to life that truly make you feel. I absolutely fell in love with Grant and with Emmy, but she also broke my heart with this one. I've loved every book I've read by Ms. Bromberg, but this one really resonates with me. You will need to read it to understand. Have a box of tissues near by and take the time to really read the story. Don't just rush through it. This is a long one, but oh, so worth it. As she says—Head Up, Wings Out. **Honest review voluntarily provided from a Complimentary Copy**

Emmy was Grant's best friend in the world when they were growing up. Third grace would never have been the same without her. Breaking a pinky promise to her, his desire to save her brought upon unforeseen consequences and Emmy disappeared from his life. So many years of wondering whatever became of her came to abrupt halt when Grant ran into her one night. And now, he is obsessed with finding out what happened to her and does she still want him in her life. Reconnecting with a long lost friend would normally be a good thing. In this case, Emmy does not want to remember the past. The connection that once existed between them is as strong as it ever was. These two characters were kindred and bonded spirits who were meant to be together. But it is not that simple. This is their struggle to reconnect and deal with a past too horrific to survive. Love is the healing ingredient for their broken souls. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I thank the author for sharing a copy of this book with me.
