Cults, Curses & Cryptids by G Johanson

One of the more interesting characters in the Accursed trilogy, Georges Steil’s long life ends in Accursed, his death leaving his group, the Pagan Resistance, without a leader. Prior to this the eccentric 79 year old had led a colourful life which is explored in the following short stories and novellas, compiled together here. From humble origins, the unassuming street magician, Georges Steil is a man of many talents with an uncanny ability to find trouble. This collection depicts some of his more outrageous adventures and romances between 1899 to 1943. End-of-the-world cults, anarchic zombie terrorists, black lodges, disfigured sculptors and living statues - all human (and inhuman) life is covered here.

About the Author

I'm a UK based self-published author specialising in historical paranormal fiction, with most of my stories linked in some way. I work in an office during the day and write when I can, which seems to be less and less these days, unfortunately. I’ve been writing for quite a few years now and the books that I am most proud of writing are my debut novel, Accursed, and the sequels, Underbelly and Eidolon. This series features a novice spiritualist and GI, James Grey, as the protagonist, and explores occultism during World War II and through to the Cold War. I’ve always been interested in history and find the ‘40s and ‘50s a fascinating period of conflict, paranoia and suspicion, and that’s without incorporating the supernatural element. My great-grandmother was a practising medium who people travelled to see, and while she never took to the stage or reached the dizzy heights that James Grey achieves, their abilities are the same. The gift has not reached my generation (or at least not yet). While I can remember her, I can’t say for certain how gifted she was, though I have heard a lot of stories about her over the years which may have subconsciously manifested in this trilogy. My works vary greatly in length, from short stories and novellas to mammoth books - Eidolon has a word count of almost 530,000. More information about my books can be found at my website.
