This textbook provides examples of real classroom activities that Chinese L2 teachers can utilize background knowledge of students as ready engagement to enhance their acquisition of Chinese L2 literacy. Unlike traditional textbooks that emphasize grammar translation approach, this textbook has been focused on literacy, e.g., basic components of Chinese literacy and daily interaction with Chinese literacy. This textbook provides Chinese L2 learners with beautiful graphic design and interesting comic characters. About the Author
The author, Dr. Yu-Hsiu Lee from Kaoshuing, Taiwan, is known by his American friends and Thai friends as Hugo. He is currently teaching a series of communicative Chinese courses in Graduate School of Language and Communication at National Institute of Development Administration (known as NIDA), Bangkok, Thailand (July 20th, 2010-present). Hugo received a Ph.D. from Literacy, Culture and Language Education department in May, 2010, at Indiana University Bloomington, USA. He obtained his M.S. from Language Education department, School of Education, at Indiana University in May, 2007. He also completed his concurrent M.A. in Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kentucky, USA, in 2007.
