She talks a lot about her own product line, and is not very in depth. It was okay, and she had some okay chemical information, but if you have had curly hair for any decent amount of time, it's likely you've already picked up a lot of the 'tips'. She also gives instructions on how to straighten your hair, which to me is a waste of paper space in a book where the whole point is to encourage you to work WITH your hair and not against it, eschewing the futile straightening and fighting of your hair. The hairstyles looked either too simple or too complex with inadequate instructions. And again, way, way, way too much talk about the Ouidad line of products. I felt I had just purchased a very long advertisement. She also speaks a lot about people who are very happy with her salon and cutting services. Not relevant to me, as I'm on the west coast and can't get to her. Even if she took any new clients, which she doesn't. So overall, it's okay if you have an extra wad of cash to throw around. You're better off directing that extra cash towards the book Curly Girl by Lorraine Massey, though.

The book gave out some good info such as sls(sodium laurel or laureth)is not good and als is good. The only thing I disagree is with the fact she does not recommend dandruff shampoos for curly hair. I need this. Too much about her line which is really expensive. the shampoos and conditioners smell good everything else smells bad. The products are expensive and work okay.

I liked the book, it gives very basic styling instructions for those with curly and wavy hair. I did notice an improvement with my hair after i followed some of her advice. I have used Ouidad's products before and the 2 that i found good are the tress fx and deep treatment. Ouidad's deep treatment is fantastic and the book helps make sure you use it correctly. Curly Girl by Lorraine Massey would be a better curl investment though.
